The informal groups of students which objectively exist in school,meet the multi-tiered psychological needs of students,and have both positive and negative effects to students’ physical and mental development and class management.Especially for the senior primary students,they are in a period of sudden changes in their physical and mental development,and their self-awareness has begun to increase.They are eager to be accepted and recognized by their peers and are willing to seek to establish their own small groups.However,due to the lack of ability to distinguish between right and wrong,the senior primary students are more vulnerable to external negative factors.Therefore,it’s important to manage informal groups of senior primary school students.On the basis of fully understanding the research status of “informal groups” at home and abroad by literature research and aiming at the current research direction of academic areas,this paper analyzes the informal groups of senior primary students’ characteristics,types and causes by selecting some sixth-grade students from three sample schools in Linchuan District as the key research objects.In addition,through asking students to complete questionnaire and interviewing with some teachers,we can find out the present situation of informal groups of senior primary school students in urban areas and problems in management,then put forward management strategies.It is found that informal groups of senior primary school students in urban areas generally exist in classes.However,there are some problems during the managing process,such as lacking of effective management of informal groups,one-sidedness of school management,the absence of family education and effective management of social education.Accordingly,this study puts forward the education and management strategies for students’ informal groups from four perspectives: facing up to the existence of informal groups and strengthening guidance and education to them;improving the school management mechanism and management level;attaching importance to the educational function of family education and giving full play to the social education function.This paper intends to ask educational administrators to pay attention to the existence of informal groups of senior primary students and educate and guide them in a positive way to promote the development of students’ physical and mental health.
