In the context of comprehensively promoting the rule of law,the cultivation of citizens’ awareness of the rule of law is of the utmost importance.Young students are the key force in the construction of the future rule of law society,and the junior high school stage is a critical period for the cultivation of students’ awareness of the rule of law.In recent years,juvenile student delinquency is common,and the total number of juvenile offenders accounted for 16.1% of the total number of criminal offenders nationwide in 2020,among which the total number of juvenile offenders who have reached the age of 14 and under the age of 18 accounted for 13.8% of the total number of juvenile offenders.In view of the real situation,China still has a long way to go in strengthening the cultivation of rule of law awareness among junior high school students.Therefore,to promote students’ healthy growth and all-round development,cultivate students’ awareness of the rule of law and regulate their behavior is a key point that cannot be ignored in the education sector.With the further advancement of the new curriculum reform,the middle school "Thought and Character" was changed to "Ethics and Rule of Law" in 2016,and many rule of law knowledge was added to the textbook.The case teaching method is widely used in large and small school classrooms and has good teaching effectiveness.By constructing situations,the case teaching method closely connects the boring and profound legal knowledge with the practical life,stimulates students’ interest and enthusiasm in learning,allows students to understand the legal procedures in case experience,cultivates the awareness of rule of law in activity inquiry,and realizes the simultaneous construction of rule of law knowledge,rule of law beliefs and rule of law awareness.Therefore,it is necessary and feasible to apply the case teaching method in cultivating students’ rule of law consciousness in the junior high school "Ethics and Rule of Law" course.On the basis of compiling relevant theoretical literature,we study the research results on case teaching method at home and abroad,and elaborate the research status,relevant theoretical concepts and foundations of case teaching method at home and abroad.Starting from the feasibility of applying the case teaching method in the cultivation of students’ awareness of the rule of law in the middle school Morality and Rule of Law course,we explain the relationship between the application of the case teaching method and the knowledge structure characteristics of middle school textbooks,the cognitive ability level of middle school students and the contemporary requirements of cultivating awareness of the rule of law.Through a questionnaire survey of teachers and students in three middle schools in Jiangxi Province,we found that the main problems are: the cognition of teachers and students needs to be improved,the professionalism of teachers needs to be improved,the organization and implementation of the classroom needs to be improved,and the teaching evaluation system needs to be perfected.In response to the problems,suggestions for optimization were made in three stages: pre-class preparation,classroom implementation,and post-class evaluation and reflection.On the basis of the optimized strategies,the lesson was implemented and evaluated on the basis of the second frame of the fifth lesson in the first book of the eighth grade of the Ministry of Education edition,Crime Prevention.
