Research begins with problems,problems begin with difficulties,and difficulties begin with practical difficulties.Primary school is the foundation of compulsory education.Under the idea of lifelong physical education,primary school physical education plays a foundational role in the process of students’ physical and mental development.More and more schools need "all-round" physical education teachers who specialize in many fields.Physical education teachers are the backbone of school physical education and the lifeline of the success of school physical education in practice.Teachers’ professional ability is the premise and foundation for physical education teachers to engage in physical education teaching,and the outstanding embodiment of physical education teachers’ professional quality.With the advancement of the reform of physical education and health curriculum,China has paid more and more attention to compulsory education,and the state has paid more and more attention to school physical education,and the social status of physical education teachers has been improved.In 2018,the opinions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on comprehensively deepening the reform of teacher team construction in the new era and in 2020,the opinions on Comprehensively Strengthening and improving school physical education in the new era were issued,which raised the importance of teacher team construction to a new height and put forward stronger and higher requirements for the professional ability of physical education teachers.Based on the stage theory of teachers’ professional development,the theory of learning motivation and the theory of lifelong education,starting from the National Teachers’ professional qualifications,focusing on the requirements of physical education teachers’ posts in the teacher recruitment announcements in the main urban area of Xuchang City over the years,starting from the background of physical education teachers in different disciplines,using the methods of literature,investigation,mathematical statistics and logical analysis,A total of 129 physical education teachers from 28 primary schools in different locations and districts in the main urban area of Xuchang City were selected as the subjects of investigation.The professional ability of primary school physical education teachers in the main urban area of Xuchang city was studied to deeply understand the current educational background,personal basic situation,in-service ideological state,overall professional ability level and in-service training of primary school physical education teachers in the main urban area of Xuchang city,Explore and analyze the practical problems and influencing factors of physical education teachers with different subject backgrounds in Xuchang primary school to improve their professional ability,and then put forward practical and effective ways to improve their professional ability for physical education teachers with different subject backgrounds in Xuchang primary school.Through investigation and analysis,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)The composition and structure of various backgrounds of physical education teachers in primary schools in the main urban area of Xuchang City is reasonable,and the overall professional ability level can meet the needs of daily teaching.(2)The influence of subject background on the professional ability of novice teachers is more significant.With the accumulation of teaching experience,the influence of subject background on the professional ability of physical education teachers gradually decreases,and the influence of teaching age and professional title increases.(3)The main obstacles to the professional development of primary school physical education teachers in the main urban area of Xuchang City: high work pressure,unclear career development direction,and unreasonable professional title evaluation.(4)Most teachers recognize the necessity of post-employment training,and hope to avoid “one size fits all” in terms of training time,method and content,so as to achieve the effect of solving common problems and individual problems at the same time.In view of the above problems and the influencing factors that hinder the improvement of physical education teachers’ professional ability,this study proposes the following paths for physical education teachers to improve their professional ability in the main urban area of Xuchang City:(1)It is recommended to comprehensively improve the access standards for physical education teachers in the quality education stage,comprehensively inspect the educational background and professional ability level of the teachers to be recruited,and at the same time improve the introduction policy for excellent physical education teachers to create a good teaching environment.(2)It is recommended that the relevant departments improve the teacher evaluation reward and punishment system,formulate a comparison table of sports grades,professional ability levels and professional titles,and urge physical education teachers to self-examine and self-examination,and at the same time improve the level of motivation for self-learning and growth.(3)It is recommended to focus on teachers,deeply understand the influencing factors and differentiated needs of mastering the professional ability level of physical education teachers,integrate the teacher information database in the region,monitor the dynamics of physical education teachers’ professional ability in real time,and urge teachers to continuously learn and grow.(4)It is recommended that schools share educational resources to create conditions and provide guarantees for the professional development of physical education teachers,better meet the multiple needs of primary physical education teachers’ ability development,and accelerate the professional growth of new and old teachers.(5)It is recommended that teachers reasonably plan their career development routes,clarify the development direction,and effectively alleviate the multi-role conflicts and work-study conflicts that affect professional development.
