This paper is a research on the teaching of reading the whole book of Chinese in primary schools in rural minority areas of southern Xinjiang.The main research object is the Z Primary School in Toksun Township,Baicheng County.In the research,we comprehensively use a variety of research methods,such as literature research,classroom observation,interview and questionnaire,to collect the relevant materials of the whole book reading teaching as comprehensively as possible.This paper analyzes the current situation of Chinese reading teaching in primary schools in rural minority areas in southern Xinjiang,finds out the causes of the problems,and puts forward the corresponding improvement strategies.This paper consists of five parts: the first part is the introduction,mainly from four aspects: research origin,research purpose and significance,research ideas and methods,research review.The second part is the definition of related concepts,which mainly involves three core concepts: the whole book reading,the Chinese whole book reading teaching and the primary school Chinese whole book reading teaching.The third part makes an in-depth analysis of the current situation of the whole book reading teaching in primary schools in this area by means of classroom observation,interview and questionnaire,and finds that there are mainly problems in two aspects: students and teachers.Affected by the age stage and the special growth environment of the ethnic minority areas,the primary school students’ reading enthusiasm is not high,and the reading is simple and one-sided.on the other hand,the teachers’ understanding of the concept of the whole book reading is relatively vague,the teaching methods are relatively backward,and the teaching evaluation methods are single.The fourth part is the analysis of the causes of the problems in the whole book reading teaching.generally speaking,some schools ignore the establishment of the whole book reading atmosphere,teachers ignore the implementation of the whole book reading teaching,families ignore the development of students’ reading ability,and students ignore the cultivation of the whole book reading habits.The fifth part is the whole book reading teaching improvement strategy,through the school to provide the whole book reading teaching system guarantee,strengthen the whole book reading teaching professional support,teachers set up hierarchical teaching content,design a variety of teaching evaluation.Parents participate in the whole book reading teaching in three dimensions to explore multiple and feasible strategies to improve the whole book reading teaching.It is a general trend to strengthen the teaching of Chinese whole book reading in primary school.the research on the improvement strategy of Chinese whole book reading teaching in primary school plays a role in promoting the formation of students’ reading habits and the improvement of reading ability.The corresponding countermeasures to solve the problems existing in the current situation of Chinese whole book reading teaching in rural primary schools in ethnic minority areas should be able to provide some reference and guidance for front-line teachers.
