A Study On Social Work Intervention In The Spiritual Care Of Disabled Elderly In Rural Areas

With the revitalization of rural areas,people’s material life is becoming richer and richer,and a large number of rural young people flock to cities,resulting in the increasingly serious aging of rural areas.In addition,rural information is not unblocked,cultural activities are insufficient,and there are few entertainment facilities,which makes the spiritual life of rural elderly relatively poor.In particular,some elderly people with congenital physical disabilities or acquired disability for some reasons will not only suffer from physical pain,but also suffer mentally due to the influence of social public opinion and their own psychology.Such groups will have a particularly strong demand for spiritual care.We call these groups vulnerable groups.As social workers,caring for vulnerable groups and providing spiritual comfort to them is not only in line with our core values,but also conducive to exploring effective service supply ways for vulnerable groups,but also has important theoretical value for promoting the development of social work in rural areas.This paper obtains a large number of perceptual data through extensive collection of literature,field investigation and interview of the research objects,and then combs,summarizes and analyzes these data,so as to explore the basic situation,problems,causes and solutions of mental care for the disabled elderly in Z village of a province.Research shows that the disabled elderly in village Z are old and ill.They have impaired psychological function,limited range of activities,loss of self-consciousness,decline of thinking ability,behavioral cognitive impairment,and serious depression and anxiety.After many telephone interviews,face-to-face interviews and the observation of the family environment and living conditions of the elderly in the process of field visits,it is found that most of them have been neglected by children for many years,and their social concepts have gone to extremes,resulting in a sense of spiritual loss and loneliness.In addition,they have no detailed understanding of professional elderly care institutions and no professional sense of service for the elderly.After old age,they are basically home-based elderly care.Using Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory,the author analyzes the spiritual needs of the disabled elderly in village Z and finds that although their basic survival needs have been realized,their higher spiritual needs,including the needs of security,communication and acceptance and the realization of self-worth,have not been realized.Most of the disabled elderly have a strong sense of "self",fall into the strange circle of fragile self-esteem,and can’t find spiritual sustenance but don’t know it.In the process of practical research,this paper specifically takes a rural disabled elderly who is facing mental care problems as the service object of the case,discusses the problems existing in their psychological state,and uses the advantage theory to help the service object stimulate their own potential,find their own strengths and realize the spiritual needs of self-worth.Finally,by re establishing and consolidating the social support network of the case owner,family,neighbors,friends and social workers will help the case owner obtain support information,so as to further improve the mental care status of the elderly.Then,through the evaluation and Reflection on the case service process,help the case owner rebuild a service method that can improve his mental care state to a certain extent.At the same time,there are some limitations in the case social work,and the whole intervention process is deeply affected by the professional knowledge level of social workers.Although the current situation of mental care for the disabled elderly has improved,the effect is still limited.Therefore,if we want to further assist the rural disabled elderly to deal with the problem of mental care,we need to look at the essence from the phenomenon,from the micro reaction to the macro.First of all,priority should be given to improving the family relations of the disabled elderly and helping the elderly rebuild the social support network.Secondly,we should actively explore the rural community care model,give full play to the rights and advantages of managers in the spiritual care of rural disabled elderly,and guide social talents to join the ranks of spiritual care of rural disabled elderly.Finally,the government should increase the storage of the corresponding "economic safe".
