With the modernization of our society,the demand for highly educated and comprehensive talents is increasing,and oral communication skills are an important aspect of reflecting highly educated talents.The elementary school stage is the starting period for elementary school students to learn language,and this period should guide them to form good communicative habits and build up communicative confidence.In order to find out whether language oral communication teaching training can improve the oral communication skills of elementary school students in the lower grades,this study conducted a survey and action research on the current situation of elementary school students in the lower grades of Primary School Z in Y.The study focused on three core questions:(1)What is the current situation of teaching oral communication to elementary school students in the lower grades?(2)Can the oral communication skills of primary school students be improved after two rounds of oral communication training?(3)What are the effective measures to improve the oral communication skills of elementary school students in the lower grades,etc.This study first investigated the current situation of oral communication teaching for lower elementary school students by using questionnaires and interviews.The results revealed that there are problems such as insufficient class time arrangement,teachers’ unclear understanding of the teaching objectives of oral communication class,single way of teaching evaluation,oral communication teaching content is only limited to textbooks,and the communicative nature of oral communication teaching is not strong in lower elementary school.Based on the analysis of the current situation of the survey,this study conducted two more rounds of action research on the teaching of oral communication class for elementary school students in the lower grades,and the results found that the oral communication skills and classroom participation of elementary school students were significantly improved in the teaching of oral communication in the lower grades of elementary school,the oral communication teaching training made elementary school students’ language expression more standardized,and elementary school students could actively participate in the whole oral communication teaching The students were able to actively participate in the whole process of teaching oral communication,showing the oral communication potential of elementary school students.Based on the survey and action research,this study proposes to strengthen teachers’ awareness of the importance of oral communication teaching in lower elementary grades,refine the teaching objectives of oral communication courses in lower elementary grades,improve the evaluation methods of oral communication teaching in lower elementary grades,enrich the extracurricular activities of oral communication teaching in lower elementary grades,update the teaching methods of oral communication teaching in lower elementary grades,and create rich situations for teaching oral communication in lower elementary grades.The research results show that there are many suggestions for teaching oral communication in lower elementary grades.The research results have important value for improving oral communication teaching in the lower elementary grades and enhancing the oral communication skills of elementary school students.
