| Zhou is an old state,but its mission is ever renewing.In the fierce international competition,"only the innovator advances,only the innovator is strong,only the innovator wins".The cultivation of innovative talents has become an important goal of education in all countries.In order to take the lead in the fierce international competition,it is necessary to make a good first move.As an education model that focuses on cultivating comprehensive talents,STEAM education emphasizes on improving students’ hands-on ability,innovation and creativity,problem-solving ability and interdisciplinary integration ability,which coincides with the concept of quality education in China.Nowadays,elementary school students are the aborigines of the intelligent era.The development of Artificial Intelligence(AI)education can not only effectively cultivate students’ creative thinking and innovative consciousness,but also help them better adapt to the future society by enhancing their AI technology application ability.Therefore,the integration of STEAM education concept into AI education is of great practical importance.After conducting extensive literature research,this study used questionnaires and interviews to collect the needs of AI club curriculum from students,teachers,school administrators and relevant experts based on design thinking,computational thinking,project-based learning,connectionism,cognitive development theory and multiple intelligence theory.Based on the demand analysis,we designed and developed an elementary school AI club curriculum incorporating the STEAM education concept,and applied it in elementary school S in Jinan.The goal of this course is to cultivate students’ hands-on ability,innovation and creativity,cooperative learning ability,problem-solving ability,interdisciplinary integration ability and comprehensive application ability of AI technology,and to strengthen students’ AI awareness and intelligent social responsibility.The curriculum combines the educational concept of interdisciplinary integration of STEAM,and carries out learning activities in a life-like,problem-based and project-based manner,insisting on the main position of students,guiding them to carry out active inquiry and cooperative learning through observation,thinking,discussion,doing,communication,expansion and evaluation,and laying a solid foundation for students’ lifelong learning.Through the design,development and practice of this course,we hope to expand STEAM education resources,enrich the form of community activities under the policy of "reducing the excessive burden of homework and out-of-school training for students in compulsory education",and broaden the way of artificial intelligence education.This study developed a curriculum resource for elementary school AI clubs,including a learning manual,an online curriculum website,and case micro-videos,which broadened the learning time and space and realized three-dimensional and personalized teaching with organic integration between online and offline.Through this study,a set of design and development plan of STEAM curriculum for elementary school was basically formed,and the general framework of STEAM curriculum construction was proposed.This curriculum was applied and practiced in elementary school S in Jinan from the beginning of October to the end of December 2021.The application results showed that the elementary school AI community curriculum integrated with STEAM education concept could basically meet the needs of students,teachers and schools,and the curriculum objectives were basically achieved.It is feasible to carry out AI education by integrating STEAM education concept,and it can effectively cultivate students’ hands-on ability,innovation and creativity,cooperative learning ability,problem solving ability,interdisciplinary integration ability and comprehensive application ability of AI technology,and strengthen students’ AI awareness and intelligent social responsibility. |
