A Study Of Female E-sports Commentators From The Perspective Of Gender

In 2018,E-sports will appear in the Asian Games in Jakarta as a performance project,and in the Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2022,E-sports will appear in the Asian Games as a formal project.As a new form of sports in the digital era,E-sports has become one of the fastest growing sports with a huge user base.As the most popular E-sports events in China,League of Legends Pro League(LPL)and Glory of Kings(KPL)have a huge audience.The booming development of E-sports events has put forward higher requirements for the professional level of E-sports commentators.However,the patriarchal relationship between the sexes has set up an invisible barrier for female E-sports commentators,and set up one obstacle after another in their career development.From the perspective of social gender,this thesis uses data analysis,case analysis,text analysis and comparative analysis to analyze the number,age,marital status,dress,duration and nature of official commentators of LPL and KPL events in China,as well as the audience’s attention to them,It is concluded that the differences between female and male E-sports commentators are mainly manifested in the imbalance of gender ratio of male and female E-sports commentators,the dominance of male E-sports commentators and the stereotype of female E-sports commentators in society.This paper analyzes the causes of gender differences by using relevant theories,and tries to put forward measures to solve the dilemma of female E-sports commentators.The study found that the deep-seated reasons for these differences are as follows:1.the inherent gender discrimination in E-sports circle;2.the influence of the physiological and psychological characteristics of female E-sports interpretation and the lack of professional ability;3.the patriarchal culture,the stereotype of female E-sports commentators and the consumption of their bodies.As a new profession with the emergence of e-sports,E-sports commentator plays an important role in the development of E-sports.In order to make her/them have a good career development path,we must face up to a series of problems caused by gender differences.In order to ensure the career development of female E-sports commentators,it is necessary to improve the professional quality and interpretation strength of female E-sports commentators,promote the audience’s cognitive level,and call on the media to guide the correct gender awareness.
