The Inheritance And Development Of CCTV Volleyball Commentary Style

The commentary style of TV sports refers to the creative personality and artistic characteristics embodied in the creation process of the linguistic art of sports events commentary by the sports commentator taking television as a medium of the communication.It runs through the entire creation process in a state of movement,and is reflected in commentary works in a relatively stable state.However,at present,there are very few studies on sports commentary in terms of communication,linguistics or broadcasting.The existing researches mainly focus on the stages of the development of sports commentary,the similarities and differences between sports in the broadcast era and television era,the sports commentary principle,linguistic characteristic of sports commentary,analysis of commentary linguistic errors and so on.There are few researches on style of sports commentary and less researches on volleyball commentary.Besides,there are some problems in existing scanty researches,including the nonuniform definitions of commentary style,few quantitative analysis and so on,so the understanding of volleyball commentary is not clear enough.The Chinese women' s volleyball team is a glorious banner in the Chinese sports community since the reform and opening up.The women' s volleyball team has brought joy and encouragement to generations of Chinese.CCTV commentaries of the women' s volleyball match spread the spirit of the women' s volleyball team,which has affected profoundly and inspired countless Chinese people.This paper selected two typical volleyball commentaries of Women's Volleyball finals,the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games and the2016 Rio Olympic as the research objects.Combining the theories of communication,linguistics and broadcasting,this paper explores the inheritance and development of volleyball commentary style by starting from the analysis of this paper,using both quantitative and qualitative analysis research methods,and further interviewing CCTV famous volleyball commentators,Song Shixiong and Hong Gang.This paper is divided into four parts.The first part is the general situation of TV sports commentary,including the history of sports commentary in China,the definition and characteristics of TV sport commentary,the meaning of TV sports commentary style and the characteristics of volleyballcommentary style,which lays some foundation for the following research.The second part is a comparative study of the texts.The transcripts of commentaries of the 1984 Los Angeles and the 2016 Rio Olympic Women' s Volleyball Finals are compared and analyzed from the aspects of discourse presentation and discourse expression.The third part concludes the CCTV volleyball commentary style in 1984 and 2016,and analyzes the influence factors that affect the volleyball commentary style by summarizing the results of the comparative study of texts.The influence factors are analyzed from the background of the times,life experience,personality and business conditions.In the fourth part,through the comparative study of texts,it is concluded that there is inheritance and development of volleyball commentary style in aspects of discourse type,syntactic features and discourse expression,which is the inevitable development movement of things.Sports commentary is a kind of hi-quality language art and the diversity of commentary style can develop very well by guaranteeing the quality of commentary.
