In recent years, with the development of voluntary service in China, the number of volunteers continues to expand, and the age group of volunteers continues to expand. Many children volunteers also appear in the volunteer service. However, the physical and mental development of child volunteers is not yet mature, and their thinking development is in the stage of transition from representational thinking to abstract logic. They are characterized by stages, development and variability, and lack of stable and standardized helping behaviors in volunteer service. Therefore, this study, based on social learning theory and using case study method, takes K community child volunteer cultivation project as an example to study the social work practice of training child volunteers to help others. The research findings are as follows:1.The main goals of social workers to cultivate child volunteers’ helping behaviors are:(1)to promote the growth of child volunteers, focusing on improving their cognition of social practice and helping them establish correct values;(2)To enhance the helping awareness of child volunteers, focus on cultivating their gratitude and feedback awareness and social responsibility awareness, pay attention to strengthening the inner reward of child volunteers, and correct their helping motivation.2.The effective methods for social workers to cultivate child volunteers’ helping behaviors include:(1)give full play to the advantages of the flexible form of growth group that is in line with children’s growth, and combine the use of model demonstration method and scenario simulation method to promote child volunteers to learn helping behaviors skills;(2)Make use of the advantages of community work practice participation, infiltrate the concept of helping others in volunteer services, and help child volunteers internalize the spirit of helping others.3.The positive environmental factors for social workers to cultivate the helping behavior of child volunteers include:(1)a safe and supportive training environment, including physical environment and interpersonal environment;(2)A warm and positive family environment with the participation and cooperation of parents;(3)A community environment recognized and trusted by community members, especially neighborhood committees and recipients.
