The meaning of life is a sense of identity and value that people realize in the process of seeking meaning in life,which is almost unanimously recognized as a fundamental component of subjective well-being.Although students gradually meet the material pursuit with the development of the economy,they cannot satisfy the spiritual pursuit,then they will have a wrong understanding of why people are alive and tired of life.In the past,research on the sense of life meaning was more common in college students.And in recent years,more studies have been conducted on middle school students.However,the study on rural left-behind junior high school students is relatively less.In this study,1070 rural junior high school students in 4 rural junior high schools in Guangxi,586 of whom are rural left-behind junior high school students were measured using the Meaning in Life Questionnaire-Chinese version(MLQ-C),Social Support Rating Scale,and Youth Optimism Questionnaire.To understand the overall status quo of social support,optimism and meaning in life of rural left-behind junior high school students,and to explore the relationship between social support,optimism,and meaning in life significance and its function mechanism.The results of this study as follows:(1)From the results of the study,the total scores of social support of rural left-behind junior high school students differs significantly in demographic variables such as gender and student cadre.And there is no significant difference in demographic variables such as stay or not and grade.Among them,the social support level of girls is extremely higher than that of boys.The social support level of student cadres is significantly higher than that of non-student cadres.(2)The total scores of optimism of rural left-behind junior high school students differ significanty in the demographic variables such as gender and student cadre,but there are no significant differences in demography variables such as stay or not and grade.The optimism level of female students is significantly higher than that of male students;the optimism level of student leaders is significantly higher than that of non-student officials.(3)The total scores of meaning in life of rural left-behind junior middle school students differ significanty in the demographic variables such as grade and there are no significant differences in demographic variables such as gender,stay or not,and whether student leaders.Among them,the first grade junior middle school students have the lowest level of meaning in life,and grade 3 students in junior middle school students have the highest level of sense of life.(4)There is a significant positive correlation between social support,optimism,and meaning in life significance among rural left-behind junior high school students.(5)Optimism plays a partial intermediary role in social support and meaning in life.The higher the level of social support for rural left-behind junior high school students,the higher the level of optimism and the stronger the meaning in life.
