Research On Police-related Online Public Opinion Guidance Strategy In X City

As an administrative and criminal law enforcement organ of an armed nature within the people’s democratic dictatorship in China,public security organs are at the forefront of participating in national governance and resolving social conflicts.Due to the special nature of public security work,their behavior attracts a lot of attention from the public and the media,while the nature of information dissemination on the Internet has intensified the spread of public opinion,leading to an increase in the number of police-related online public opinion incidents year after year.The negative impact of police-related online public opinion reduces the credibility of public security organs and affects the harmonious relationship between the police and the public,so public security organs need to take effective management measures to control the development of public opinion to eliminate the negative impact brought about by public opinion.The Internet has become a major channel for the penetration and dissemination of social and cultural risks in cities and is closely related to the security and social stability of cities,so crisis management of police-related online public opinion is particularly important.However,due to the specificity of the sector,there are still many problems that need to be solved in the guidance of police-related online public opinion by the public security organs in X city.Based on the characteristics of public security work,this paper takes the management of police-related online public opinion as the main line of research,applies theories of public crisis life cycle,issue management,and governance,reviews a large amount of literature and cases related to police-related online public opinion,and uses the literature research method and case study method to summarise the types and development status of police-related online public opinion in X city.After in-depth analysis,it can be found that the current problems in the guidance of police-related online public opinion include a lack of attention to the guidance of police-related online public opinion,inadequate response and disposal mechanisms,and "fear of difficulties" in guidance.The main causes of the problems are the deviation of the public security organs’ concept of guiding police-related network public opinion from the needs of police work under the new situation,the gap between institutional construction and the need for actual combat,and the lack of proper governance of the root causes of police-related network public opinion.Based on the actual work of public security organs and the situation of police-related online public opinion,and drawing on the practical experience of police-related online public opinion guidance in other cities and regions,we propose corresponding countermeasures for guiding police-related online public opinion in X city public security organs,including attaching importance to public opinion guidance,establishing a police-related online public opinion warning mechanism,improving police-related online public opinion response and guidance mechanism,and grasping the source and root of police-related online public opinion for improvement in three aspects.It is hoped that this study will,to a certain extent,strengthen the ability of the public security organs in X to guide and handle police-related online public opinion,serve public security in actual combat,vigorously safeguard the image of public security organs and team building in X,enhance the ability of public security organs in X to maintain social stability and public order,and provide a reference for other provinces and municipalities.
