| With the increasing proportion of the elderly population in the total population,the consumption of the elderly group is becoming more and more important in China’s consumption.In the era of rapid development of the Internet,the consumption of the elderly group has also changed under the influence of the Internet and new payment methods.Based on this,this paper takes the consumption of the elderly group as the research object,discusses the mechanism of mobile payment affecting the consumption of the elderly group,constructs a theoretical model of the impact of mobile payment on the consumption of the elderly group,selects the data of China family tracking survey(CFPS)in 2016 and 2018,and uses OLS,iv2 sls,quantile regression and psm-did measurement methods to analyze the impact of mobile payment on the consumption of the elderly group Mechanism and heterogeneity were studied.The results show that:(1)mobile payment can significantly promote the total consumption of the elderly,and promote their online shopping consumption,survival consumption and cultural and educational entertainment consumption;(2)mobile payment can significantly promote the consumption of the elderly through the mechanism of payment convenience and loneliness,but the impact of mobile payment on the consumption of the elderly through the liquidity constraint mechanism(3)with the improvement of consumption level,the promotion effect of mobile payment on the total consumption of the elderly shows a trend of rapid decline first and then slow rise;(4)the heterogeneity analysis of payment methods shows that compared with the elderly who do not use mobile payment,the use of mobile payment can increase the total consumption of the elderly by 7.93%.Further analysis of the heterogeneity of the elderly group shows that the promotion effect of mobile payment on the total consumption of the middle-aged elderly is more obvious than that of the young elderly;the promotion effect on the total consumption of the urban elderly is slightly higher than that of the rural elderly;the promotion effect on the total consumption of the elderly group in the central region is more obvious than that in the eastern and western regions.Therefore,this paper puts forward the following suggestions.(1)Improve the popularity of mobile payment in the elderly.By simplifying the operation steps of mobile payment,popularizing mobile Internet skills and knowledge to the elderly,and accelerating the construction of mobile payment related facilities in rural areas and remote areas of central and Western China,a wider range of elderly people in China can easily use mobile payment.(2)accelerate the construction of an integrated mobile terminal platform that integrates social and consumption of elderly people,vigorously promoting the "mobile Internet plus the elderly" mode,and improving the enthusiasm of the elderly to use the mobile Internet for entertainment,social networking and consumption activities.This will enhance the trust and stickiness of the elderly in moving the consumer platform,enrich their amateur life and promote their quality.(3)We should actively guide the elderly to use consumer credit appropriately.The old people’s consumption concept of living within their means and serious saving tendency limit their consumption tendency.The society should strengthen the popularization of consumer credit related skills and knowledge for the elderly,and guide them to use new payment methods such as consumer credit,so as to help the elderly establish new consumption concepts and promote the consumption of the elderly. |
