Women’s liberation,as an important part of the liberation of all mankind, has always received great attention from Engels.Although Engels did not specifically discuss women’s liberation, through reading the works,it can be seen that the idea of women’s liberation has been running through his entire ideological system. In the book "The Origin of the Family,Private Property and the State"(hereinafter referred to as "Origin"),the background of the emergence of Engels’ view of women is: the slander of gender relations in communist society in capitalist society and the confusion of gender relations in capitalist society. From the perspective of theoretical origin,Engels absorbed Bathofen’s idea of women’s emancipation,Morgan’s anthropological thought and Marxist theory, and then formed his own view of women through the investigation of the actual situation of women in society. In the book "Origin",Engels systematically discussed the idea of women’s liberation and formed a rich set of women’s liberation theories. In this process,Engels mainly criticized and inherited the Morgan family model, and through the study of the family evolution described by Morgan and Engels himself,he clarified the reasons for the decline of women’s status. There are two reasons for this: First, human reproduction itself.Second, the development of social productive forces. In addition,Engels also discussed how women can liberate themselves. Therefore,we must study, explore and solve women’s problems in the current era according to the theoretical achievements of Engels’ view of women. This paper first systematically discusses the background, main content and contemporary value of Engels’ view of women in "Origin",and the background is mainly elaborated from three aspects: theoretical origin, formation process and objective conditions. The main content is described from four aspects: the historical evolution of women’s status and the reasons for women’s enslavement.Contemporary value is discussed from both theoretical value and practical value.Secondly, this paper combines Engels’ view of women with the current era through interdisciplinary and multi-perspective,and analyzes the significance and role of Engels’ view of women in contemporary times.
