Nancy Fraser’s Theory Of Gender Justice And Its Enlightenment To Women’s Rights Protection

The topic of justice has been concerned by people since ancient times.The mainstream theory of justice mainly focuses on redistributive justice and lacks the gender perspective of justice theory research.As a political philosopher and feminist,Fraser keenly captures the neglect of gender justice issues in current mainstream justice theories.Based on the background of globalization era,Fraser breaks through the traditional concept of justice and puts forward a unique unitary three-dimensional theory of gender justice.The theory of gender justice is of great significance to protect women’s rights and promote social development.Based on Fraser’s theory of gender justice and its contemporary significance,this paper analyzes the historical background and theoretical origin of Fraser’s thought of gender justice,discusses the basic content of Fraser’s thought of gender justice and reveals the contemporary value of Fraser’s thought to protect women’s rights and interests in our country.This paper is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is the introduction,which expounds the topic selection background,research significance,research summary,innovation points and other issues.The second chapter examines the historical and theoretical background of Fraser’s theory of gender justice.With the development of economic globalization and the prevalence of neoliberalism,new conflicts and contradictions occur in western capitalist countries,resulting in gender injustice in many fields.Deeply influenced by Rawls’ s theory of justice,Marx’s theory of justice and Hornett’s theory of recognition,Fraser constantly improved the theory of gender justice in his debate with the third generation of critical theorists in Frankfurt.The third chapter elaborates the basic content of Fraser’s theory of gender justice.Specifically,it includes the conceptual basis,realistic criticism of gender injustice and path construction of gender justice theory.Starting from the definition of gender,justice and gender justice,Fraser made a profound realistic critique of the unjust phenomena of distribution,false recognition and wrong representation suffered by women in the economic,cultural and political fields,and constructed a specific path to realize gender justice on this basis.Chapter four reviews the value and limitation of Fraser’s theory of gender justice.On the one hand,Fraser’s gender justice theory expands the framework of the mainstream justice theory,inherits and broadens the western Marxist social critical theory,and develops the feminist thought in the wave of feminist debate.On the other hand,Fraser’s theory of gender justice also has obvious limitations.The exaggeration of political representation weakens the role of economic factors in gender issues,and has a utopian color to the idea of transnational political framework beyond sovereign states.The fifth chapter further elaborates the realistic enlightenment of Fraser’s gender justice theory to our women’s rights protection.This article makes a deep analysis from the political representation,economic redistribution and cultural recognition of Fraser’s theory of gender justice,and combines the current practical problems facing the development of women in our country to get a deep enlightenment.At the level of political representation,we need to ensure women’s equality in the public sphere from the aspects of improving the system policy,enhancing the awareness of female political participation,and transnational political cooperation.At the level of economic redistribution,our country needs to take relevant redistribution measures to realize women’s internal justice and workplace justice.At the level of cultural recognition,efforts should be made to eliminate the concept of male chauvinism and gender identity discrimination,and to improve the tolerance of gender.The innovation of this paper lies in: the topic selection is novel.At present,there are many achievements in domestic research on Fraser’s theory of justice,but there are few articles exploring his theory of justice from the perspective of gender.In addition,there are not many articles linking Fraser’s thought of gender justice with the protection of Chinese women’s rights and interests.On the basis of systematic review and analysis of relevant researches on gender justice theories,this paper breaks through the lack of perspective existing in previous studies and conducts in-depth research combining with my own specialty.The paper considers the practical significance of protecting women’s rights and interests based on the systematic elaboration and evaluation of Fraser’s gender justice theory,and aims to benefit the development of Chinese women.
