With the industrial upgrading and economic restructuring of our country, the demand for high-quality skilled talents is becoming more and more urgent.China trains more technical and skilled talents to meet the needs of the rapid development of economic construction by means of enrollment expansion in higher vocational colleges.A series of policies to promote the development of higher vocational education have also been issued accordingly, which provide a good opportunity for the development and expansion of higher vocational colleges, and also put forward higher requirements for the quality of the teachers’ team in higher vocational colleges.Due to the lack of practical teaching experience,full-time faculty in higher vocational colleges have been unable to meet the needs of modern vocational education for the cultivation of skilled talents. At the same time, the growth rate of full-time faculty is not as fast as the growth rate of students, and the student-teacher ratio is gradually unbalanced. Therefore,it has become a trend in higher vocational colleges to hire a number of highlevel professional and technical personnel and skilled craftsmen from industries and enterprises or some in-service faculty with rich teaching experience from other schools to teach in vocational colleges, which helps to form a high-quality teaching team combined with full-time faculty. As an important part of the teaching staff in higher vocational colleges, adjunct faculty,on the one hand, make up for the shortage of teachers and balance the ratio between students and teachers. On the other hand, they optimize the structure of teachers and meets the needs of practical teaching. However,as a special group, there are some problems that cannot be ignored in the management of adjunct faculty in China at present, which hinder them from playing their due role. Therefore,it is of great significance to carry out researches on the management of adjunct faculty in higher vocational colleges.Based on the X-Y theory and the hierarchy of needs theory, and taking G College of G Province as the research object, through a tripartite survey of the adjunct faculty, students and relevant management of the college, this thesis found that the main problems in the management of the adjunct faculty of the college were the nonstandard recruitment process, imperfect training system, inadequate supervision of the teaching process, lax assessment system and unsound incentive mechanism. The reasons for these problems are discussed from the four perspectives of government, enterprises, higher vocational colleges and adjunct faculty, which include insufficient government policy support, weak corporate cooperation intention, insufficient attention from schools, and low sense of belonging for adjunct faculty. On this basis, the following countermeasures and suggestions are put forward.Firstly, the recruitment process of adjunct faculty should be standardized.Secondly, the training system for adjunct faculty should be established.Thirdly, the supervision of teaching quality of adjunct faculty should be strengthened.Fourthly,a strict assessment system for adjunct faculty should be made. Finally, the incentive mechanism for adjunct faculty should be improved.
