Differential Trust And Level Adjustment:A Study On The Rumor-Defying Effect Of Government Weibo

With the continuous development of information technology and the rapid development of network technology,the Internet is rapidly becoming popular in China,and the online network continues to penetrate into the offline social life,and a variety of social media platforms have emerged.Social media platforms are rapidly expanding and growing with the help of the Internet and have powerful communication functions,and online rumours are taking advantage of the characteristics of social media to wreak havoc in the online domain,bringing a very bad impact on the lives of the public.Government departments,as one of the main bodies managing social public affairs,should take the initiative to assume the responsibility of maintaining social stability,managing online rumours reasonably and effectively,guiding social opinion and avoiding the creation of public sentiment.As one of the new social media,government micro-blogs are an important platform for government agencies to make their voices heard,a window of communication and a bridge between the government and the public,so government micro-blogs are increasingly used by government departments as a powerful tool and means to dispel rumours.Therefore,this study aims to understand the effectiveness of the dissemination of disinformation on government micro-blogs and the factors that influence their effectiveness,and to make suggestions to address their shortcomings.Firstly,we read the literature on the current state of research at home and abroad to clarify the focus,difficulties and innovations of this paper;we explain the important concepts of this paper-rumours and online rumours,government micro-blogs,and the effectiveness of the dissemination of rumour dispelling information on government micro-blogs-to make the research object clearer and more concrete;we study public management theory,the theory of differential order,and the theory of government trust.By studying public management theory,government trust theory,information asymmetry theory and 5W theory,the theoretical foundation of this study was constructed,and on top of the theoretical foundation,research hypotheses were put forward and models were constructed.Secondly,this study used both Houyi collector and Octopus collector to collect all the disinformation tweets from thirty government micro-blogs during the two years from 2019.01 to 2020.12.31,remove the deletion and duplicate data,and after processing,we finally obtained 1290 disinformation messages.Again,this study utilised general linear regression models and hierarchical regression models for empirical analysis.The three independent variables of whether it is a public event,whether it is within the region and whether it has a topic have a significant effect on the number of comments.From the hierarchical regression analysis,it can be seen that the level of micro-blogging has a significant moderating effect on the communication effect,and has a greater moderating effect on the number of likes and comments in the communication effect,while the opposite effect on the number of retweets is not significant.Finally,in order to better manage online rumours and improve the effectiveness of the dissemination of disinformation on government micro-blogs,this study proposes practical suggestions and countermeasures to address the current basic development of government micro-blogs and the effectiveness of the dissemination of disinformation on government micro-blogs.
