Since the 21 st century,China’s influence has continued to increase and its international status has significantly improved.However,the overall international public opinion environment is still dominated by European and American countries.For a long time,the defamation of China in the international environment has led to misunderstanding of China by the international public,which has seriously damaged China’s national image.The "the Belt and Road" initiative provides a historical opportunity for China to tell a good story about China and build a new national image.In the media integration environment,the "the Belt and Road" short videos have become an important form of communication for mainstream media to spread the "the Belt and Road" concept and convey the voice of China.Based on multimodal discourse analysis theory,high and low context theory,agenda setting theory,and using case analysis and text analysis,this paper conducts a full sample analysis of 188 "the Belt and Road" short videos produced by the three major national mainstream media,People’s Daily,Xinhua News Agency,and CCTV,and summarizes that the "the Belt and Road" short videos produced by the three major mainstream media have diverse creative subjects,comprehensive theme types The characteristics of diversified forms of expression and multi-dimensional communication channels,this paper analyzes the "the Belt and Road" short videos from three aspects of language,vision and hearing,and summarizes its strategies in the construction of the national image: combining grand narrative with micro narrative,changing the expression mode from "I" to "we",cooperating with each other in various modes,and using multimodal metaphors to construct the national image.It is concluded that it has constructed China’s enlightened and confident The political image of democracy and responsibility,the economic image of mutual benefit,mutual assistance and sharing,the cultural image of enduring,open and inclusive,the social image of inclusiveness,harmony and stability,and the ecological image of harmonious,beautiful,and sustainable development.Analyze domestic and foreign audience comment samples,and explore the effect of the "the Belt and Road" short videos on the construction of China’s image.The analysis shows that the short videos of the "the Belt and Road" have a high context expression in the construction of national image,which brings cultural discounts;The media "borrows stage performances" and lacks international communication power;Lack of user thinking and difficulty in balancing supply and demand;The lack of interaction between the two parties and the lack of smooth dissemination of feedback information have led to optimization strategies:using low context expression methods to serialize story narratives;Expand media ’circle of friends’ and improve agenda setting capabilities;Strengthen user thinking,promote regionalization and crowdsourcing communication;Improve the audience feedback mechanism and enhance the emotional connection between the sender and receiver.In order to enhance the dissemination and influence of Chinese media in the international public opinion environment,and construct a credible,cute,and respectable image of China.
