Research On The Relationship Between Government And Business In The Development Of Rong’s Enterprise (1927-1937)

The development of modern national industry and commerce has gone through a stage from creation,prosperity to stable development.In this development process,in addition to the company’s own conditions,the external business environment is also crucial to the development of national industry and commerce.In order to ensure a good business environment,how to effectively handle the relationship between ethnic businessmen and the government is a topic that needs in-depth study.Only by properly handling the relationship with the government can national industry and commerce develop in a good business environment.In the process of the development of Rong’s enterprise,its relationship with the Nanjing National Government is dynamically changing.In the decade from 1927 to 1937,Rong’s enterprise and the Nanjing National Government experienced a process of conflict,game and cooperation.This article selects three representative events in the development of Rong’s enterprise to present the government-business relationship between Rong’s enterprises and the Nanjing National Government.In 1927,the subscription of the treasury bills led to political and commercial conflicts.After Chiang Kai-Shek first arrived in Nanjing,his huge military expenditure due to his constant wars,coupled with the financial concept of debt repayment,led to financial difficulties for the Nanjing Nationalist Government.The financial support of the Jiangsu and Zhejiang Foundation is urgently needed,including Rong’s enterprises.Based on distrust of the new regime,the Rong’s brothers fought unsuccessfully with the government about the subscription of the treasury bills,and compromised to subscribe for the treasury bills.In 1934,Shenxin was "stranded" due to poor capital turnover,and the government tried to take it "nationalized",In order to save the enterprise,Rong Zongjing and Rong Desheng went back and forth between government personnel to find a solution,skillfully using the interests within the Kuomintang government,thus dispelling the idea of the Ministry of Industry taking over Shenxin Textile Company to "nationalization",so that the crisis of Shenxin’s "stranding" and the crisis of "nationalization" were resolved.In 1935,Shenxin No.7 factory was auctioned by the British business HSBC.The incident involved both China and the UK,as well as the government,banks and other departments,and the Rong brothers tried unsuccessfully with the bank to seek government help.Rong Zongjing and Rong Desheng operated through various aspects,and with the cooperation with the government,Shenxin Seventh Factory was finally saved under the wave of nationalism.The above three representative events not only highlight the relationship between Rong’s enterprises and the government in the process of development,but also show the difficulties faced in the development of modern China’s national industry and commerce...
