The Study On The Biden Administration’s Security Policy Towards Taiwan

Since President Biden assumed office,the Biden administration has undoubtedly made strategic competition a key theme in U.S.-China relations.China’s Taiwan region has been playing an important role in the United States’ China strategy.The United States’ Taiwan security policy is not only limited to counterbalancing China,but also aimed at consolidating its control over the East Asian alliance system and its dominance over the East Asian security order in the future.In this context,taking the Biden administration’s Taiwan security policies as the research object,studying the causes and significance of these policies,and further analyzing how these Taiwan-related security policies affect China-Us relations,regional security and US-Taiwan authorities relations are of great significance for studying how the Biden administration will deal with the security of the Indo-Pacific region in the future and the development prospect of China-Us relations.First of all,it analyzes the basis of the Biden administration’s Taiwan security policy.In chapter 1,this paper analyzes the Biden administration’s security policy,its Indo-Pacific strategy and its China policy.The analysis results show that the United States believes that it is not enough to have strong military power in the Indo-Pacific region.Based on the security interests in the Indo-Pacific region,the United States hopes to demonstrate sufficient credibility to show that it will intervene in time and provide defense assistance in case of war.The Biden administration’s security policy towards Taiwan is not only limited to deterring potential Asian threat forces,but more importantly is to re-strengthen the relationship between the United States and its Allies and maintain its control of the alliance system and the dominance of the regional security order.Based on the analysis results of the first part,this paper further analyzes the reasons for the Biden administration’s adjustment of Taiwan security policy.This part analyzes from three aspects: the increase of China’s overall national strength,the relative decline of the United States’ power and the change of the security pattern in the Indo-Pacific region.The author’s conclusion is that the security of all kinds issues is diffused inside the United States and the anxiety caused by the relative reduction of American interests in the Indo-Pacific region makes the United States try its best to accelerate the reform of the security pattern in the Indo-Pacific region.Therefore,Taiwan,which has the strongest anti-China will and insufficient comprehensive strength to play its role by itself,has been selected as a powerful "pawn" of the Biden administration’s Indo-Pacific strategy.The third part analyzes the Biden administration’s preference towards Taiwan security policy.This paper analyzes from three aspects: ideological preference,military cooperation preference and foreign policy preference.The analysis of this paper finds that the United States believes that the economic,political and military risks in the Indo-Pacific region are increasing,and the anti-China and pro-Taiwan forces take advantage of this opportunity to vigorously advocate the China threat theory,so that the Biden administration will adopt the strategy of enhance alliance power to suppress China and try to create ideological opposition,and there is a trend of strategic clarity on the strategic ambiguity of the "Taiwan question".The Biden administration’s preference towards Taiwan security policy determines its approach to implementation.In the fourth part,this paper analyzes the Biden administration’s approach to Taiwan security policy implementation.In this paper,ideology path,military cooperation path and alliance cooperation are analyzed.The analysis shows that the Biden administration adheres to the US-led "pseudo-multilateralism" principle in the Indo-Pacific region,takes the implementation of cooperative "maintaining order in the Indo-Pacific region" to jointly suppress China as the fundamental goal of its security policy,advocates fighting "authoritarianism" in line with the values of democracy and human rights in the Indo-Pacific region,and creates conflicts between the Taiwan Straits.Let the "Taiwan independence" forces on the Taiwan island play the role of the United States and its Allies in containing China’s rise.Finally,this paper analyzes the impact of the Biden administration’s security policy towards Taiwan on China’s national security and the impact on the security of the Indo-Pacific region and puts forward China’s countermeasures.According to the analysis results,China and the United States will be in a phase of strategic conflict for a long time.China is a responsible Country.we have always striven to honor the commitments we have made,and we will firmly defend our due rights and interests.The Chinese government should be fully prepared to expand its power and international influence,and to win the support of the people who live on both sides of the Taiwan Straits.
