This research uses the field research method.This research studies the changes in family status of Huian female from three different periods of history.These periods of history are the historical period before the founding of new China,the era of planned economy and the historical period after the reform and opening up.This research finds that family status of Huian female was dependent before the founding of new China and is dominant after the reform and opening up.This research holds the opinion that changes in family status of Huian female have macro reasons,meso reasons and micro reasons.There are five macro reasons:the promulgation and improvement in Marriage Law of the People’s Republic of China,changes in the marriage market in China,development of women work in China,reform of China’s economic system and changes in population mobility in China.There are two meso reasons:development of local marriage culture and changes in local gender division of labor.There are four micro reasons:changes in economic incomes of Huian female,changes in human capital of Huian female,changes in the course of life of Huian female and development of gender equity awareness of Huian female.This research has three contributions.The first one is integration of resource theory,cultural norm theory and life course theory.The second one is discovery of patterns of changes in Huian female’s family status which is from dependent to dominant and cause analysis of changes.The third one is innovation of research method which includes comparative method,comparative perspective and research on changes in family status of Huian female from both structure dimension and process dimension.This research has two limitations.The first one is a limited number of samples and the second one is a limited distribution range of samples.
