This thesis takes new Chinese immigrants and the policies of major European countries towards new Chinese, represented by Britain,France, and Germany,as the research objects, making a detailed review and analysis of the history and current situation of Chinese immigrants in Europe around the mid 1970 s.The thesis points out that since the reform and opening up,major European countries have become one of the most important destinations for new Chinese immigrants.New Chinese immigrants in Europe have been undergoing important transformations in terms of geographic distribution, migratory willingness, economic structure and political participation. On the basis of different needs, the policies of the major European countries towards new Chinese immigrants are generally based on economic utility, emphasizing the absorption of skilled immigrants, international students and investment immigrants. They also put emphasis on identity preservation, supporting family reunification immigration, legalizing temporary immigration and strictly combating illegal immigration. In the future,it will be increasingly restrictive and will focus more on strengthening the integration of Chinese immigrants already on its territory. This thesis argues that,on the basis of tracing the history of the development of European new immigrant policies towards China and analyzing the influencing factors, grasping and predicting their future development trends, not only can the current situation of the development of new Chinese immigrants in Europe be correctly understood, but also it is conducive to the development of overseas Chinese affairs work in China. |
