The rapid economic development and social changes have prompted people’s growing yearning for a better life,followed by people’s demand for various public service and the improvement of service quality.People are the recipients of public service,and their satisfaction with services reflects the actual supply level of public service from an objective perspective.As the basic unit of social governance,the community is the frontline and the most approachable place for people to enjoy public service.By investigating residents’ satisfaction with public service and analyzing the shortcomings of public service at communities,it will help to promote the high-quality development of public service and improve community governance.As a pilot development zone for socialist modernization,Suzhou Industrial District has a lot of experience in regional development and community governance over the past few years of reform and opening up.This paper mainly adopts the methods of questionnaires and interviews,and establishes an evaluation index system in the following four aspects:information circulation,content setting,supply capacity,and effectiveness of public service.Surveys and analysis of residents’ satisfaction with community public service were conducted in four sub-districts and four communities under the jurisdiction of the Suzhou Industrial District.Through the surveys,it is known that the community public service is relatively recognized by the current residents,but with room for improvement.In terms of information circulation,some residents are still marginalized groups;with regards to content setting,the adequacy and diversity of service are lacking;when it comes to supply capacity,resource allocation needs to be improved while social workers are relatively recognized;as for effectiveness,the service penetration rate is relatively high,but the pertinence and effectiveness need to be improved.Based on in-depth interviews with residents and community staff,it is found that there are four main factors affecting residents’ satisfaction with community public service:the accuracy of community public service positioning,the diversification of community public service supply mode,the guarantee of community public service environment,and residents’ expectation and participation in community public service.Correspondingly,this paper puts forward four countermeasures and suggestions for improving residents’ satisfaction with community public service:firstly,clarifying the service positioning and accurately identifying the needs of residents;secondly,broadening service forms and realizing diversified supply;thirdly,optimizing the service environment,improving institutional safeguards and strengthening technical support;lastly,we should scientifically grasp residents’ expectations and enhance residents’participation.
