The Influence Of Identity Integration Of Community Corrections Offenders On Social Adaptation

The community corrections offenders refer to criminals who have been sentenced to non-custodial sentences according to the law after committing criminal acts,and have been supervised and reformed in society.The purpose of community corrections is to promote the return of community corrections offenders to society smoothly.The social adaptation level of community corrections offenders has an important impact on their correction effect and prevention of re-offending.Identity integration is a protective factor for individuals with multiple identities to maintain self-identity,which can help community corrections offenders resolve the conflict between "corrector" and "community member",which is good for them to maintain a harmonious and unified self-concept,and to work and live better in society.Therefore,it is of great value and significance to explore the impact of identity integration of community corrections offenders on their social adaptation.Based on the above background,this research adopts the questionnaire research method to explore the relationship between identity integration and social adaptation of community corrections offenders,and examines the chain mediating effect of social integration and social support in the above affect,so as to reveal the internal mechanism of the influence of community corrections offenders’ identity integration on their social adaptation.In terms of research process,firstly,according to the characteristics of community corrections offenders,this research formed the Social Adaptation Scale of Community Corrections Offenders and the Social Integration Scale of Community Corrections Offenders by revising existing research tools.The reliability and validity of the revised questionnaire were tested on 319 community corrections offenders in the initial test to determine the research tool for the formal test.Secondly,in a formal investigation,this research based on samples of 2036 community corrections offenders to the revision of the early test scale and previous use of mature research tools,tried to measure the identity integration,social adaptation,social integration and social support of the offenders,and used the corresponding statistical method to test research hypotheses,and obtained the following research results:(1)In terms of demographic variables,there are significant differences in the social adaptation of community corrections offenders in terms of marital status,place of residence,type of community corrections,and work situation.Specifically,the social adaptation level of the divorced community corrections offenders is significantly lower than that of the married and unmarried community corrections offenders,the social adaptation level of the urban community corrections offenders is higher than that of the rural community corrections offenders,and the social psychological adaptation level of the community corrections offenders sentenced to probation is higher than that of the community corrections offenders sentenced to public surveillance.The working community corrections offenders have a higher level of social adaptation than the unemployed community corrections offenders.(2)The integration level of community corrections offenders’ identity positively affects their social adaptation,that is,the higher integration level of identity is,the better social adaptation of community corrections offenders will be.(3)The integration level of community corrections offenders’ identity positively affects their social integration,that is,the higher integration level of identity is,the deeper social integration of community corrections offenders will be.(4)The social integration of community corrections offenders has a positive impact on their social support,that is,the higher level of social integration is,the more social support will be received by community corrections offenders.(5)The social support obtained by community corrections offenders positively affects their social adaptation,that is,the more social support obtained by community corrections offenders,the better their social adaptation will be.(6)Social integration and social support play a chain mediating role between the identity integration and social adaptation of community corrections offenders,that is,the better identity integration,the higher social integration level of community corrections offenders,and then obtain more social support,and finally have better social adaptation.The above results show that the identity integration of community corrections offenders can promote their social integration,so that they can obtain more social support,and finally improve their social adaptation.Based on the above conclusions,this research further emphasizes and discusses how to improve the social adaptation level of community corrections offenders from the perspective of intervening identity integration,social integration and social support.
