| This study proposes to explore and study the main factors affecting the intergenerational old-age support of the elderly in Jiangsu from the perspective of intergenerational old-age support for the elderly,in order to provide ideas for the elderly and families to better play the role of the family in the elderly, and also to put forward countermeasures and suggestions for the government to build a "family, community, institutions coordinated" pension service system family support policy,to promote the realization of active aging in Jiangsu.Based on the survey of Jiangsu home-based elderly families based on the "Jiangsu Home-based Elderly Family Support Research Project",the basic situation, family situation, children’s situation, and intergenerational support of jiangsu elderly families were learned. The chi-square test was used to analyze the differences in intergenerational old-age support of the elderly with different characteristics, the comprehensive influence of multiple factors of intergenerational elderly support was analyzed using logistic regression and decision tree models, the factor analysis method and structural equation model were used to construct potential variables and analyze the relationship between the socioeconomic level, child resources, health level, intergenerational interaction and intergenerational old-age support. This article yields the following results:Firstly, for life care support, the elderly with more chronic diseases, better mental health,no spouse, living with children, and the elderly in southern Jiangsu and urban areas can get more support, while as the children’s income increases, the level of support will decline. The level of support for elderly people living alone in central or northern Jiangsu is relatively low.Secondly, for spiritual comfort support, the closer the distance from the children’s residence, the more support can be obtained for the elderly in the city and northern Jiangsu region.Elderly people living alone in rural areas have a poor situation of spiritual comfort support and need to be paid close attention to.Thirdly, for intergenerational economic support, the older people with more children and higher children’s income can get more support, while the higher the annual family income and family non-essential expenditure, the possibility of the elderly receiving support is gradually decreasing, and the families with higher levels of non-essential expenditure in central Jiangsu and families with fewer children in southern Jiangsu and northern Jiangsu have a lower level of intergenerational economic support,so families with young children in southern Jiangsu and northern Jiangsu need to pay close attention.Lastly, the socio-economic level of the elderly can promote the acquisition of life care support and spiritual comfort support, but there is a negative effect on the acquisition of intergenerational economic support, with the total impact effects being 0.450,0.120 and-0.544,respectively;child resources can significantly promote the access to various generational supports, and the total impact effect on the three intergenerational elderly supports is 0.217,0.487 and 0.262,respectively;there was a positive effect of health status on intergenerational economic support with an impact effect of0.123;intergenerational interaction can promote the access to life care support and spiritual comfort support, but there is a negative effect on the access to intergenerational economic support, with a total impact effect of 0.384,0.637 and-0.135,respectively.Based on the above findings, this paper puts forward some conclusions and suggestions.First of all,the overall level of intergenerational support for the elderly at home in Jiangsu is better, but there are differences between different regions, and it is necessary to adapt to local conditions to promote the balanced development of family pension areas.Secondly, the elderly with higher socio-economic resources and more frequent intergenerational interaction can often get more non-economic intergenerational support, and it is recommended that policy guidance pay attention to the elderly with low social resources and encourage family and neighborhood interaction.Lastly, the richer the children’s resources, the easier it is for the elderly to obtain intergenerational old-age support.Families with young children need to be paid attention to and encouraged to increase their willingness to have children. |
