A Study On Guangdong Federation Of Trade Unions In The Early Days Of New China (1949-1957)

From 1949 to 1957,the Guangdong Federation of trade unions was established and flourished.As a mass organization of the working class in the province,it has always played a role in maintaining the relationship between the Communist Party of China and the working class in Guangdong.This paper focuses on the specific practice of Guangdong Federation of trade unions in the early days of the founding of new China,and discusses the formation process,main work and historical role of Guangdong Federation of trade unions in this period.In the early days of the founding of new China,under the unified deployment of the party,the Guangdong Federation of trade unions resolutely implemented the national guidelines and policies,quickly mobilized trade union organizations at all levels to organize the working class in the province,and continuously improved the trade union system in the province.In addition,the Guangdong Federation of trade unions also actively assisted the Provincial Department of civil affairs,the Department of industry and other relevant administrative departments to resolutely implement the basic principle of "protecting the interests of workers",and played a key role in leading trade unions at all levels in the province to popularize publicity and education,carry out labor competitions,and carry out labor protection work.A series of fruitful trade union work carried out by the leadership of Guangdong Federation of trade unions has made important contributions to promoting Guangdong’s economic and social development,improving workers’ political identity,strengthening workers’ material security and promoting the completion of the socialist transformation of Guangdong’s private industry and commerce.However,due to lack of experience and manpower,there are also some deficiencies in cadre management and organization construction.In the practice of trade union work in this period,Guangdong Federation of trade unions explored experience and practices with local characteristics and practical significance,which can provide some experience and Enlightenment for the development of trade union work in the new era,such as paying attention to the interaction between workers and farmers,paying attention to cadre training,strengthening system construction,etc.
