Funeral customs are formed in the long-term social and historical development of various ethnic groups.The rich and colorful funeral culture is one of the important components of the multicultural model of the Chinese nation.Funeral rituals and customs will change with the development of social economy,politics and civilization.The social transformation requires the urgent reform of funeral system in China.How to promote the healthy and orderly development of funeral industry,especially the reform in ethnic areas,has become a very difficult topic of funeral reform in China at present.Based on da Cun,a Yi village in Wujie Town,Nanhua County,Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture,this paper adopts the method of field investigation and literature analysis to study the reform process of local Yi people’s funeral customs by visiting and investigating,collecting and sorting out relevant materials and combining with the existing Yi research literature.This thesis is divided into three parts: overview,text,conclusion and discussion.The overview part mainly describes the research background,the significance of the research,research status,research methods and related concepts.The first part of the thesis mainly introduces the investigation point of the thesis,the general situation of da Cun,Wujie town,Nanhua County,Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture,and the content of da Cun Yi ethnic group’s traditional burial custom and its reform process.The second part mainly expounds the change of funeral custom in the new era of Dacun Yi ethnic group after the introduction of the new funeral system from the aspects of the background and policy of funeral reform,reform process and reform practice results.The third part analyzes the main reasons leading to the change of the Yi people’s funeral customs in Dacun,namely,the state forced change and induced change,the local Yi people’s interpersonal recombination,the change of the concept of life and death and belief system,people’s rational choice under the joint action of the current funeral customs of the Yi people in Dacun.The fourth part expounds that modern funeral is the product of the common factors such as the deconstruction of economic rationality,the mutual adjustment of social customs and policy consensus,and the spontaneity and arbitrariness of belief system.The primitive religion,which includes nature worship,ancestor worship and Bimo culture,is the main part of Wujie Yi folk religion and an important component of Yi culture.The national funeral reform will sacrifice some traditional culture,but to a certain extent,it promotes the rational allocation of resources,eases the relationship between man and land,and promotes economic development.In the process of national funeral reform,on the one hand,the public should actively cooperate with the funeral reform,so as to avoid social conflicts and get as much benefit as possible at the lowest cost.On the other hand,under the influence of economic rationality,the influence of folk belief is gradually weakened,which is an objective problem in the Yi region.Therefore,only by coordinating the relationship between national system and social etiquette and customs,and constantly adjusting the state and local society,and by strengthening the guidance of socialist core values and actively guiding the folk religious belief of Yi ethnic group,can the reform of ethnic group’s funeral and burial be carried out efficiently and the funeral and burial life in line with the new socialist fashion be formed.
