| Since culture and language are attached to each other.English textbook,as the primary source of foreign language education,is also an important medium for cultural transmission.Thus,how is the Chinese culture integrated into senior high school English textbooks is a hot topic which deserves detailed study.Based on General Senior High School English Curriculum Standards(2017),two major new versions of senior high school English textbooks released have been used in Fujian in 2019.Specifically speaking,the first one is New Senior English for China(NSEC)published by People’s Education Press,and the second is Senior High English(SHE)published by Beijing Normal University Press.In view of the popularity and importance of these two versions,this thesis chooses them as research subjects.On the basis of textbook evaluation theory and other related theories,this thesis carries out an internal evaluation on the two versions of new senior high school English textbooks so as to answer the following questions(1)What are the characteristics of Chinese culture integration in the two versions of new senior high school English textbooks?(2)Are there significant differences in the characteristics of Chinese culture integration between the two versions of new senior high school English textbooks?(3)In terms of Chinese culture integration,do these two versions of textbooks meet the requirements of General Senior High School English Curriculum Standards?Under three thematic contexts,this study finds out that there are significant differences between NSEC and SHE from the perspective of cultural types,activities,representation modes and ways of expressions.Obviously,NSEC and SHE integrate Chinese culture with their own characteristics.Meanwhile,both of them meet the related requirement of General Senior High School English Curriculum Standards. |
