Previous studies have found that procrastination is common among middle school students. It has been proved that time management tendency is an important factor causing procrastination. However, are students with low time management inclination bound to procrastinate? Under the epidemic, online teaching has become the mainstream, and the classroom has been moved from school to home.At this time, teachers’ supervision of students is greatly weakened, and the subject of supervision is transferred from teachers to parents. At present, however, the majority of urban families are dual-earner families,in which the responsibility for supervising children is largely transferred to the children’s grandparents.Grandparents will be relatively indulgent to children because they are raised by other generations,so some misbehavior of children may not be able to be positively disciplined.Parents,on the other hand, may be tougher on their children, educating and policing their misbehavior.Based on this, this study focuses on whether the variable of parental supervision will regulate the influence of time management inclination on academic procrastination of middle school students, and on this basis, group counseling intervention targeting time management inclination is conducted to reduce the degree of academic procrastination of middle school students. This study includes two substudies. In the first study,581 junior high school students from a middle school in Wuhan were selected as the research objects.Through questionnaire survey, the relationship between time management tendency and academic procrastination of junior high school students under the supervision of different parents was explored.Sixteen subjects(with low levels of time management tendencies and high levels of academic procrastination)were randomly divided into two groups from Study 1for Study 2,in which the experimental group underwent six sessions of a time management tendencies group counseling intervention and the control group underwent treatments unrelated to the intervention. The pre-test and post-test data of the experimental and control groups were also analyzed. The study findings were as follows:(1)Time management inclination can significantly negatively predict the academic procrastination of junior middle school students;(2)Time management tendency Group counseling can significantly improve the level of students’ time management tendency,so as to reduce the degree of junior high school students’ academic procrastination. |
