The painting on the coffin wall of Mawangdui No.3 Han Tomb,Chariot and Horse Procession,is different from the T-shaped painting on the coffin cover.It is another kind of burial painting in the Han Dynasty.It shows the rich connotation of silk paintings in the Han Dynasty.This paper is divided into five chapters,from the chariot and horse procession image and Mawangdui No.3 Han tomb silk painting overview,coffin wall silk painting picture analysis,coffin wall silk painting detail analysis,coffin wall silk painting in the burial process to completely construct the painting theme and use function of coffin wall silk painting.The first chapter summarizes the terra-cotta warriors and horses unearthed in the Qin and Han dynasties,the pictures of chariots and horses and the silk paintings of Mawangdui No.3 Han Tomb.The second chapter analyzes the picture of Chariot and Horse Marching Diagram on the silk painting on the coffin wall.According to the picture layout and figure form,it can be divided into four sections:traveling chariot and horse marching,cymbals drum playing,chariot and horse marching,adults and three followers.In the upper left corner,the master of the tomb ascends a nine-level platform with a sword.Cymbal drum playing on the left lower,with a phalanx of nearly 100 people outside,either holding spears or taking hands facing the tomb owner and cymbal drum scene;On the upper right are the chariots and horses of the army,each with four horses,single shafts,two wheels and square wagons,arranged in 5 rows of 10 each;On the lower right is a cavalry phalanx,100 horses;In the lower right corner,there are four figures far greater than other figures in silk painting,which have nothing to do with the theme of the whole painting.The third chapter analyzes the specific details in silk paintings separately,starting from the drum music scene,the nine-level platform,the military formation,the dispatch book and the corresponding figures in silk paintings respectively,and analyzes the scenes in silk paintings by citing the handed down documents and archaeological findings.The fourth chapter mainly quotes the records of Zhou Rites and Yi Rites,reexamines the overall burial process of Mawangdui No.3 Han Tomb,and discusses the system of burying the dead after death,the construction of wooden coffin,the drawing time of silk paintings on the coffin wall,the maker and the use process.The usage nature of many silk paintings unearthed in Mawangdui No.3 Han Tomb is distinguished from the perspective of "using instruments" and "bright instruments".Recently,it is revealed that the silk paintings on the coffin wall were painted when the tomb owner was built after his death.The fifth chapter,quoting the ancient literature,inferences the meaning of military review of silk paintings by means of elimination method,and discusses the decorative meaning of silk paintings on the coffin wall to the coffin chamber from the changes of the concept of tomb construction,the differences and similarities between the functions of silk paintings on the tomb,and the appearance of the tomb murals in the same period.At the same time,the "documentary" nature of silk paintings on the coffin wall played a "demonstration" role in the composition of the tomb image "above is fairland,below is human" in the later period.
