Throughout the 5,000 years of Chinese history,it is easy to find that the Chinese nation is a nation that attaches great importance to education,and Chinese society is a society that loves learning.Every sublimation of Chinese civilization has been accompanied by the development of the idea of learning.In the common background of the times,similar family environment,similar schooling experience,similar career aspirations and other factors,to Luo Zhenyu,Zhang Taiyan,Liang Qichao,Wang Guowei,Chen Yuan,Chen Yinke as the representative of “Guo-xue educators”(educators who specializing in traditional Chinese civilization)constitute a striking group.They are based on national education,eclectic,dedicated to the cause of education.They are like-minded,cohesive group,focus on learning,and promote educational change.A collective biographical analysis of this group from four perspectives: social origin,family origins,domestic educational background,foreign educational background,and career,reveals that this group has a convergence of origins,similar schooling experiences,diverse professional structures,and stable career structures.With personal diaries,biographies,memoirs and other historical materials,the group’s view of learning in the Republic of China was found to have formed a systematic and complete system of learning ideas with oriental characteristics: the learning purpose theory of "learning as a gentleman and improving society",the learning content theory of "upholding tradition and incorporating" the theory of learning content,the theory of learning process,the theory of "inheriting tradition and progressing step by step," the theory of learning methods,and the theory of learning attitudes,the theory of "determination is the first thing,and hard work is the most important thing." The theory of learning attitude.To sum up,the learning outlook of the group of Guo-xue educators in the Republican period shows obvious characteristics of inheritance,inclusiveness,nationality and practicability.It can be said that it was the traditional cultural inculcation,nationalist sentiment,and the violent impact of Western learning that prompted them to develop a secondary school-based learning ideology,and their learning ideology in turn further consolidated the roots of traditional culture.They have made indelible contributions to the inheritance of Chinese traditional culture and the protection of national self-confidence,such as attaching great importance to the role of national studies,strongly advocating national studies,opening national education institutions,preaching excellent traditional culture and conducting in-depth studies on national studies.It is obvious that this group has inherited,carried forward and developed the essence of traditional Chinese learning thought,fixed the Chinese model of learning philosophy and practice,and enhanced the cultural confidence of the nation.Their ideas and teaching practices provide a paradigm for school teachers and students’ research studies,and promote the development of research studies in schools.Their determination and sense of responsibility in governing promoted the creation of a good learning atmosphere and strengthened the belief in learning among young people in a chaotic world.Although the times of the Republic of China are very different from those of today,and the era belonging to Guo-xue educators of the Republic of China is far gone,their wisdom on learning still shines brightly and is of great significance for promoting excellent traditional culture,shaping the learning outlook of China’s current youth,building a lifelong learning system for all,and comprehensively promoting the strategy of strengthening the country through education.
