Post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD)is a mental disorder in which individuals experience, witness,or suffer death, death threats, injury,or harm to their physical integrity resulting in delayed emergence and persistence. The term was first proposed by the United States when it was used to study the psychological condition of soldiers returning from the Vietnam War.Military and police personnel are at high risk for PTSD.Survey data showed that the incidence of PTSD(known as "hysteria" at that time)among Chinese soldiers engaged in the war against Vietnam was as high as 20.7%.If this mental disorder is not well taken care of and treated,it will accompany patients for life, making them difficult to integrate into society, and at the same time, their physical health will suffer greatly. When the patient has serious symptoms,it will even endanger the life safety of himself, his family, the public and other people. However,at present, there is still a lack of care for the mental health issues of the veterans and the social mass neglect, discrimination and so on.The purpose of this study is to study the emotional visual design of veterans with PTSD.Taking the emotional plate as an example, the role of emotional visual design in helping patients identify, express emotions and arouse social attention is discussed. This study analyzed the effectiveness and feasibility of emotional visual design for patients’ emotional management by using the methods of in-depth interviews, focus groups and designed experiments. The results show that the design of emotional version can effectively help veterans with PTSD identify, express and manage their emotions to a certain extent, improve their emotional awareness and ability to express themselves.By visualizing the emotional images of veterans with PTSD,the design can arouse the public’s focused empathy more intuitively from a new perspective. To expand the attention of patients’ families and society, provide a reference direction for the improvement of domestic attention on PTSD of veterans, and promote domestic research on the mental health of military groups. At the same time,it also has some helpful value for the treatment of PTSD related art design, which promotes people to have a certain understanding of the effect of art therapy on mental health.
