Cambodian intermediate learners of Chinese have various errors in acquiring the upper tone modulation, such as not changing the tone when they should,or making mistakes in the tonal pattern after changing the tone.In order to find out the errors and the reasons for the errors of Cambodian intermediate Chinese learners in acquiring the upper tone, ten students from the third year of the Chinese Department of Asia Euro University in Cambodia were used as the subjects of the experiment to investigate the acquisition of the upper tone by Cambodian intermediate Chinese learners.Based on the analysis of the experimental data, the reasons for the bias of Cambodian intermediate Chinese learners in acquiring the upper voice modulation were summarized, and teaching suggestions were proposed to meet the needs of local Chinese teaching. The introduction introduces the background, significance, current situation and theoretical basis of the experimental research;the first chapter, experimental research design, compares the native language of the research object with Chinese, introduces the experimental object, the phonetic materials used in the experiment, the software used in the experiment, and the experimental method and The process;the second chapter analyzes the bias of Cambodian intermediate Chinese learners in acquiring the upper single character tones and the upper two-character group of tones from three aspects: tonal type, tonal range and tonal value. The results showed that the tonal pattern of Cambodian male learners tended to be flat, while female learners did not change the tone of the upper voice, had a zigzag tonality,or had inaccurate or incorrect tonal patterns;in terms of tonal range, both male and female learners showed a large tonal range;in terms of tonal values,Cambodian intermediate learners generally had higher tonal values of the upper voice, and showed inaccurate or incorrect bias in the tonal values of the upper voice. An experimental phonological approach was used to analyze the bias of Cambodian intermediate Chinese learners in acquiring the upper vowel variant through data study. It was found that various factors such as language learning environment, excessive analogy of the target language, and the effect of negative native language transfer caused the bias of Cambodian intermediate Chinese learners in acquiring the upper tone.To address the causes of the bias, suggestions were made in terms of students’ learning strategies and teachers’ teaching strategies. The proposed teaching suggestions were also applied in classroom teaching, which was found to be operational and effective based on classroom observation and testing.
