This article mainly explores the use of material language in freeze frame animation,aiming to reveal the importance of material language in enhancing the expressive power of animation.Although the use of materials in freeze frame animation is becoming increasingly diverse,works often only focus on material shaping and scene construction in terms of expression,with less attention to the advantages of the materials themselves,and insufficient in-depth research on the characteristics and narrative functions of the materials.With the development of digital technology,the material advantages of freeze frame animation are facing the risk of being replaced by 3D animation.Therefore,it is particularly important to conduct in-depth research on the material language of freeze frame animation.This article first explores the application methods and manifestations of material language,and points out the problems of material application in current animation.Then,the artistic characteristics of material language in animation were analyzed,and the application methods of materials in animation were elaborated from different perspectives.Finally,taking the "Cocoon" series as an example,combined with practical analysis,the specific application methods of materials such as clay,metal,and fabric in this work were analyzed.This provides a deep understanding of the properties of the material and effectively integrates it with the story content,providing the audience with a unique visual experience.The research results indicate that in-depth research and innovative application of material language can enrich the expressive power of freeze frame animation,help change the current limitations of freeze frame animation creation,and improve its artistic value.This study will have a positive impact on the creation and research of future freeze frame animation.
