In the information age,international Chinese online teaching is developing vigorously,and the importance of international Chinese teachers’ application ability of information technology is becoming increasingly prominent.However,at present,international Chinese teachers still have various problems in the application of information technology,which is inconsistent with the actual demand of current Chinese teaching.This study conducted a research on the evaluation and improvement of pre-service Chinese teachers’ application ability of information technology,hoping to provide reference and help for pre-service Chinese teachers’ teaching practice.Based on the digital competency model of teachers and the International Professional Competency Standards for Chinese Teachers(2022 Edition),this study understands the information technology application ability needs of international Chinese teachers and pre-service Chinese teachers through interviews and classroom observations,and constructs an information technology application ability evaluation system for pre-service Chinese teachers with the characteristics of international Chinese education based on the principle of practicality.The evaluation system includes six first-level indicators:information awareness,information technology literacy,information teaching preparation ability,information teaching implementation ability,information teaching evaluation ability,and information development ability,with 23 second-level indicators and 55third-level indicators.In this study,the constructed evaluation system was applied to the evaluation of the information technology application ability of pre-service Chinese teachers,and at the same time,through questionnaire survey,we learned about the ability training of pre-service Chinese teachers and the training needs of pre-service Chinese teachers,and came to the following conclusions:(1)The information technology application ability of pre-service Chinese teachers has reached the primary level,and there is still a big gap from the intermediate level;(2)Pre-service Chinese language teachers’ information awareness,information technology literacy,information teaching preparation ability,information teaching implementation ability and information teaching evaluation ability can be improved;(3)There are some deficiencies in the training of pre-service Chinese language teachers’ information technology application ability by the master’s training unit,including both curriculum and practice.Based on the lack of ability of pre-service Chinese teachers,the training needs and the training of training units,this study puts forward suggestions for improvement from three aspects: informatization training of in-class teaching,informatization training of extracurricular practice and independent learning of pre-service Chinese teachers.
