A Study On A Night Tour With Candles By Ma Lin In Song Dynasty

This paper takes the Painting of a Night Tour with Candles,which is attributed to Ma Lin,as the object,and studies it from three aspects: basic information research,object image research and picture theme analysis.It holds that the painting of a Night Tour with Candles was written by Ma Yuan in the middle and late Southern Song Dynasty.The hero depicted in "Night Tour with Candles" is a metaphor of the national emperor.The buildings in the back garden,as well as the distant mountains and begonia in the picture,point to the emperor’s "home" and a metaphor for the "country";And by the perishable characteristics of begonia,it implies the emperor’s concern for the country;Finally,through the three themes of "Night","tour" and "quiet" shown in the painting,it is believed that the painting is obviously influenced by the concepts of Neo-Confucianism,"the understanding of objects" and "the Lord’s respect".
