In modern Chinese,locative words or locative structures are usually combined with nouns to express spatial relations,which can express both concrete and abstract spatial meanings.In the existing research,scholars pay more attention to the combination of concrete nouns and localizers and the specific spatial meaning after the combination,but the research on the combination of abstract nouns and localizers is not extensive,and most of them focus on the semantics of the structure itself or the analysis of the collocation differences between abstract noun and different localizers,and less on the detailed description and classification of abstract nouns appearing in the structure.It also examines the rules existing in the combination of locative words and locative structures.The preposition frame “在……上/里/中”has its own typical metaphorical meanings,namely plane metaphor and point metaphor;Container metaphor;Construct a metaphor.Therefore,this paper chooses these three structures,puts abstract nouns into them to investigate,observes the combination rules of the two,and analyzes the cognitive schema of abstract nouns according to the combination tendency of abstract noun and different prepositional structures,That is to say,which categories are interpreted as point-shaped zero-dimensional,two-dimensional plane,threedimensional container and component respectively.In addition,we also find that some abstract nouns that can be combined with three prepositional frames at the same time are most frequently interpreted as plane,followed by component and container,that is,showing the following gradient: plane > component > container.This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction part,mainly combs the predecessor’s research results,determines the research direction and the content and so on;The second chapter introduces the specific spatial meanings of the three prepositional frames and summarizes their spatial metaphorical forms,which lays the foundation for the research and explanation in the following chapters;The third chapter firstly classifies the abstract nouns according to the research of the senior scholars,and then investigates the combination of prepositional frame and abstract nouns through the investigation corpus and gives a detailed description and explanation;The fourth chapter mainly explains the reason of the combination from the perspective of metaphor and semantics,and summarizes the cognitive schema of abstract nouns according to the previous study;The fifth chapter puts forward teaching suggestions according to the research conclusion of the thesis.Finally is the conclusion part,mainly summarizes the research conclusion as well as the deficiency.
