Research On Cultivating Students’ Thinking Quality Based On English Dialogue Teaching In Elementary Education

Abstract/Summary:
It has been clearly pointed out the importance of cultivating students’ thinking ability in the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition).It has also emphasized that students will be able to develop their logical thinking,dialectical thinking and innovative thinking gradually in classes.Based on Bloom’s Cognitive Target System,Thinking Visualization theory and Ub D theory,this study mainly uses action research to promote the development of students’ thinking ability by strategies used in English dialogue teaching classes in Class 610 of C Primary School.This study plans to answer these questions:(1)What’s the current situation of students’ thinking quality in C Primary School? What are the problems?(2)In primary school dialogue teaching classes,which strategies can effectively improve students’ thinking quality of imageability,logicality,criticism and creativity?(3)What is the effect of these strategies extracted by the researcher on the cultivation of primary school students’ thinking ability?First of all,in the preparation stage before action research,the researcher investigates the current situation and main problems of students’ thinking quality through questionnaires.Secondly,after carefully studying a large number of relevant literatures and books,the researcher have extracted some cultivation strategies on developing students’ thinking quality which are planned to be used in dialogue teaching.Meanwhile,the researcher formulates the ‘Three-stage template of culturing students’ thinking quality in dialogue teaching’ and plans to apply it into classroom practice as a new teaching paradigm.Finally,the researche will apply strategies to classroom practice through two rounds of action research.In the first round of action research,some cultivation strategies will be adopted such as the Micro Lesson Video,Fun Dubbing,Hierarchical Question Chain,STW,Mind Map,Comparative Reflection and Task List.The second round of research is adjusted according to the previous round action and will add more strategies such as Example Skeleton,Headlines and Tug of War,focusing on training students’ critical thinking ability.These are the main findings of this study:(1)The integration of thinking cultivation strategies into dialogue teaching is helpful in improving students’ thinking quality in all aspects.(2)The application of thinking quality training strategies helps students form good thinking habits and promotes the sustainable development of thinking quality.(3)Thinking quality cultivation strategies enrich classroom teaching activities,increase students’ interactive experience,and help improve students’ confidence in expression.(4)Teachers’ encouraging verbal feedback plays an important role in promoting the development of students’ thinking ability.The research proves that it is effective to cultivate students’ thinking quality and shape good thinking habits by using thinking cultivation strategies in English dialogue teaching.Although this study still has shortcomings,it combines with classroom teaching and explores some strategies to cultivate primary school students’ thinking quality,hoping to provide some references for frontline teachers.
