Research On The Contemporary Visual Translation Design Of Blessing Culture In The Four Seasonal Festivals

Blessing culture is an important part of traditional folklore,which originates from religion but is different from religion,and is people’s aspiration and wish for a better life,embodied in some kind of fixed folklore.These folk customs carry distinctive and strong social functions and colors,which are a kind of spiritual beliefs,folk worship and ritual sacrifices and other social life interpenetrated and intermingled to form a cultural phenomenon with blessing as the core content or core link.As the development of agricultural production affects people’s production life,people have summarized a series of festive folk customs that are more in line with the changes of the seasons and the flow of the sky.People held rituals according to the changes of the four seasons,and "respecting the heavens and following the times" became the rule of survival of the ancestors and the life philosophy and values of the whole Chinese nation,which is based on blessings.The development of the Internet has led to a shift in the traditional culture of praying for blessings,and the expression of people’s wishes for blessings is not only limited to praying to the gods in temples and festive rituals,but also developed into an easy and fast way to convey wishes through the Internet and new media.Despite the different backgrounds of the times,people’s initial wishes for blessing are related to the solution of daily problems and the pursuit of a better life.Traditional blessing symbols and ritual mechanisms should not be lost under the flood of changes in the times but should start to develop better under the premise of continuity.The rich and diverse folk activities,artistic symbols and blessing connotations in the four seasons and customs provide rich resources for contemporary visual translation design,and the study of its connotation of blessing connotations and the integration of contemporary design can realize the revitalization of blessing culture in contemporary society.Using the method of cultural visual translation,exploring the visual elements,artistic values,and forms of traditional blessing culture,and reshaping them with contemporary aesthetics,so that traditional blessing culture can be presented in contemporary society with new carriers,is an effective way to explore the integration of traditional blessing culture into contemporary life.Among the four representative festivals selected for this thesis,the Jiuhua Spring Festival,the Banshan Summer Festival,and the Sanmen Winter Festival are three festivals listed as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO,which is the best opportunity to explore the visual translation of the four festivals.As the grandest and largest traditional festival in Taiwan during the autumn harvest season,the Harvest Festival conveys people’s prayers for abundant crops and prosperity of people and animals and is also a vivid window to show the culture of the four seasons in Taiwan.Therefore,this selection is based on the development of blessing culture in the new era,from the four seasonal festivals,to explore its dynamic behavior rituals,abstract cultural symbols contained in the blessing imagery,the contemporary visual translation design method,the connotation and extension of traditional culture to break the limitations of communication,get rid of the boring form,so that the blessing culture from the traditional framework,retain the essence of culture while giving it a new era The connotation is given a new era.
