This report is a Chinese-English translation report.The original text of the report is excerpts from the fourth chapter of The Rise of China by Professor Jin Yinan.This chapter introduces in detail how the Chinese people struggle under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and tells the source of strength rooted in the Chinese nation.The translator chose this text as the translation project to let more people know about this arduous history and let the young generation cherish the rare peace and freedom.The excerpts selected in this report are informative text and vocative text.Informative text is mainly used to express facts and opinions.It focuses more on content rather than form,so the meaning of the source text should be translated in concise and easy to understand.And vocative texts often emphasize the calling function of language,and the core is to arouse readers’thinking and resonance.The characteristics of this kind of texts are reader-centered,so readers’feelings should be considered more in translation.Under the guidance of Peter Newmark’s communicative translation theory,this report intends to adopt domestication and combined foreignization translation strategies appropriately.And in the process of translation,in order to explore the most suitable way for information history text translation in practice,the translator uses imitation,transliteration,amplification,omission and other translation methods and skills,from the lexical,syntactic and cultural level to make case analysis.At the same time,the translator hopes that this translation report can promote people to convey the national spirit and the sense of unity as well as provide some references for other translators engaged in the practice of translating historical texts of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. |
