| The primary school stage is the initial stage of compulsory education.In this stage,the goal of learning English set for primary school students is to enable students to develop preliminary comprehensive language application ability,promote mental development and improve comprehensive humanistic quality through English learning.According to the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition),"Students at the primary school stage should have the ability to effectively use language skills and learning strategies such as listening,speaking,reading,reading,writing,etc.according to the specified language content requirements,around the theme group and sub themes,to obtain basic information,have brief oral or written communication with others,and use the combination of sound,form,meaning and use to express the words learned in the context",which clearly requires that,Pupils can initially use about 500 words to communicate and express on the specified topic.In addition,they can contact and learn the third level vocabulary and 100-300 words within the scope of related topics,as well as a certain number of idioms or fixed collocations according to the actual situation.It is an important task for primary school English learning to help students remember and spell words correctly,and then learn to use English words correctly.The practice shows that the comprehensive ability of primary school students in English learning is not high,and there are many problems,among which the problem of "spelling mistakes" takes a large proportion.In order to fully understand the current situation of spelling errors in English words in primary school,and further find out the types and causes of spelling errors,this survey was conducted.In this study,160 students in four classes from grade 3 to grade 6 in a primary school in Qingdao were taken dictation test with the words required to be mastered in the primary school English textbook of FLTRP(starting from grade 1)as the survey sample.First,based on the comparative analysis theory,error analysis theory,cognitive learning theory and language transfer theory,relevant research results are collated and analyzed by using the literature method and English dictation is designed.Second,the collected materials are summarized by using the text analysis method.Finally,students and teachers are interviewed to find out the spelling errors and their underlying causes by analyzing the data,so as to classify Sort out the types of spelling errors in pupils’ words.The study found that the phenomenon of spelling errors in primary school students’ words is frequent.As far as the types of spelling errors are concerned,they are mainly divided into three types: phonetics,semantics and morphology.Then the causes are analyzed according to the types of problems.The main causes for students include:students’ unclear learning objectives,wrong learning methods,lack of English learning environment and interest,and low utilization of learning resources;The main reasons for teachers include: teachers’ teaching methods of words are too few,students are not the main body,the emphasis on teaching links is biased,and English teaching and research activities become mere formality.Aiming at the causes of the problems in spelling errors,this paper mainly puts forward targeted suggestions and strategies from the two aspects of students themselves and teachers’ teaching,specifically including: clarifying the purpose of learning,selecting scientific memory methods,finding the English environment for practicing words,and making reasonable use of learning resources;Teachers change teaching methods,cultivate students’ language skills,pay attention to self reflection and improve their professional skills.It is hoped that these improvement strategies can improve the current situation of students’ spelling errors. |
