It is pointed out in the English Curriculum Standards for High School(2017 Edition)that "the specific goal of ordinary high school English curriculum is to cultivate and develop the core qualities of subjects such as language ability,cultural awareness,thinking quality and learning ability,after receiving high school English education." Cloze test is designed to test students’ comprehensive language ability.Students conduct analysis and judgment by applying related knowledge,reasoning and context of the ideas.Close test is an important item in the entrance examinations.It is found that the high school teacher pays little attention on close reading during teaching process and students show little interest in cloze reading.Tony Buzan proposed the concept of mind map in 1974.He believed that mind map can help cultivate the students’ divergent thinking and deal with difficulties in learning and life effectively.In this thesis,the study of mind map used in the teaching of cloze test is conducted,aso that the problems mentioned can be partially solved.Based on the Ausubel’s Meaningful Learning Theory and Gestalt Psychology Theory,using research tools such as interviews,questionnaires and tests to solve the following problems.(1)Is there any possibility to improve students’ interest in cloze by applying mind map into it?(2)How to integrate mind mapping into cloze teaching?(3)What is the effect of mind mapping applying in cloze teaching?Three rounds of action research are conducted in four months,taking students and teacher in a senior high school in Liaocheng as the research object,conclusions are drawn on as follows:(1)Students’ interest in cloze has improved by applying mind map into it.After three rounds of action research,teachers’ and students’ awareness of using mind maps has been improved.The application of mind map in cloze test teaching is feasible,and it is acceptable by most of the students and teachers.(2)Mind map is used in the close test teaching as a strategy to grasp the context and central theme of the article and review the knowledge so as to applied mind map in cloze reading by this way.(3)Students’ interest in cloze reading is improved and their abilities in autonomous learning,judgment and analysis are improved significantly.This study applies mind maps into the senior high school cloze teaching try to solve students’ learning difficulties in this area,which aims to promote the application of mind maps in the field of cloze teaching and hopes to provide some valuable insights for English teacher.
