As a world-renowned master of cinema,Eric Rohmer played a crucial role in the "New Wave" movement of French cinema.Director Eric Rohmer’s works have a very distinct personal color,both in the expression of the theme and the style of the image,with a consistent and unique aesthetic style.Compared with other masters of French New Wave cinema,Eric Rohmer came to the peak of his career relatively late,which is one of the reasons why Eric Rohmer is relatively ignored when talking about the French New Wave cinema;In addition,there are relatively few articles on Eric Rohmer,and the research direction is relatively fixed.This paper chooses to analyze Eric Rohmer’s films from the perspective of body aesthetics,which will effectively supplement the relatively weak parts of Eric Rohmer’s films research direction.Based on Merleau-Ponty’s theory of body aesthetics,this paper selects Eric Rohmer’s "Moral Tales","Comedies and Proverbs",and "Four Seasons Stories" series of films as cases to represent,and analyzes the body images in Eric Rohmer’s films from three aspects: the earthly existence of the body,the multi-dimensional existence of the body and the interactive existence of the body,and reveals the body connotations contained in Eric Rohmer’s films that are similar to Merleau-Ponty’s body aesthetic theory.The first is to analyze a series of "primitive perceptions" of the existence of the body in the world,so as to explore the meaning of "primitive perceptions" to our existence;Secondly,the analysis of Eric Rohmer’s films from two important dimensions of the body,namely body temporality and body spatiality,concludes the multidimensional existence of the body in Eric Rohmer’s films;The third part is to analyze the connection between the body subject and the other and the world,starting from the body that interacts with the other,and analyzes the physical connection between the other and the self in Eric Rohmer’s film and the meaning of this connection;Finally,starting from the factor of "things" that accidentally appear in Eric Rohmer’s film world,through the grasp and understanding of specific objects in the world,the closely related relationship between objects and body subjects is clarified,revealing the relationship between body subjects and the world in Eric Rohmer’s films.Through the analysis of Eric Rohmer’s film text at these three levels,it is necessary to explore his understanding of the meaning of the existence of the body,so as to find the true meaning of his film language.Eric Rohmer tries to convey his understanding of the existence of the subject through images,and with the flow of the lens,the audience can also borrow the characters in the play to deeply experience the demands of the subject,experience the fate of different characters,and at the same time perceive the world in this experience,perceive the existence of the self-subject,and at the same time produce a sense of coexistence between the self and others. |
