| In essence, social communication is the process of change and interaction between the subject and others. The subject is not a passive observer, but puts himself in the place to interpret the actions of others according to the thoughts and concepts that may be generated by "himself" or "others".Instead,in most cases, the subject as an active participant directly interacts with others in the environment.Intersubjectivity is not based on reasoning or simulation of the internal mechanisms of the brain, but is based on the process of real-time interaction between subjects. In this process of interaction, the behavior of others constantly affects the cognitive content and cognitive mode of the cognizer, and vice versa.Merleau Ponty believed that the relationship between subjects should first be a primitive relationship of body perception. One subject is aware of the existence of another in its own body perception, and likewise another is thus perceptually aware of the other. The subject consciousness does not exist in isolation, but only when it is combined with the body.In other words, the subject does not simply exist as a thinker, but as a body with the nature of the subject.Merleau Ponty believes that we should place others in the symbiotic relationship between bodies in different situations of social interaction, rather than placing others in the self or for themselves. The problem of intersubjectivity is one of the important research objects in western philosophy, but it is still a fuzzy problem up to now.It is well known that Husserl’s phenomenology brings this problem to our attention. However, its significance remained hidden in Husserl’s philosophical theory of transcendental phenomenology until further elaboration by Merleau Ponty. To be more precise,Merleau Ponty’s theory of body intersubjectivity is closely related to his philosophy of embodied nature. The subject’s understanding of others is endowed with the relevant connotations of the power of the subject and the physical movements of others, and others do not hide their intentions, but express them through the actions of others,so it can be perceived. The intention of others can be realized and transmitted in the process of interactive movement,so it is not given in advance, nor is it static. In his view,"we" hold the same subject perspective,so that the self-subject can perceive the feelings of others and be perceived by them as well.In other words,we are skilled at understanding others in embodied social interactions. |
