Research And Practice On The Creative Characteristics Of Robert Boury’s Two Chamber Music Works

Robert Boury is one of the most famous contemporary American composers.His writing career mainly focuses on the second half of the 20 th century and the beginning of the 21 st century.His works are diverse in genre and his musical language is full of individualized characteristics.His work has won numerous Awards,including the BMI Awards and the Joseph H.Bearns Prize from Columbia University.This paper chooses two chamber music works of Boury in the middle period of his creation and studies them from the aspects of composition techniques and stylistic characteristics,and further summarizes the creative characteristics of these two works.The two works are Trio in D Major(composed in 1983)and String Quartet No.10(composed in 1984),both of which have the musical characteristics of the "third trend" and some characteristics of neoclassical music and nationalist music respectively.In addition,Boury’s creative techniques and musical language features in these two works are in common.This thesis mainly follows the following order: the life of the composer and the introduction of his works,the creation background of two chamber music works,the composition techniques in two chamber music works,the origin of Robert Boury’s creation style and the music overview of the "third trend" and Robert Boury’s "third wave" music features and its practical application in my original works.Through the two works of music structure,music theme material characteristics and development techniques,tonal layout,rhythm and speed and other aspects of the comb analysis from macro to micro,as well as the two works of creative techniques,creative style,the characteristics of their personal music language research,This paper summarizes the creative characteristics of the "third trend" in Boury’s two chamber music works and the aesthetic characteristics of his works.At the same time,as a master of fine arts,I will apply Robert Boury’s representative creative techniques and ideas to my works in creative practice.From the Angle of creative practice,the author further understands the technical theory and aesthetic characteristics of "the third trend".Finally,technology serves the purpose of artistic creation.
