Female Trauma Narratives In Marriage And Love Dramas: A Study Of The Creations Of Female Playwrights In The 1930s And 1940 | Posted on:2024-02-16 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:T Y Li | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2555307154482164 | Subject:Theater, film and television | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | The 1930 s to 1940 s was an era where feudal civilization and capitalist civilization intertwined.When female playwrights created dramas,they mostly focused on exploring the relationship between women and their families,society,and themselves in love dramas.This study focuses on the marriage dramas created by female playwrights in the 1930 s to 1940 s,and explores the theme changes,character image changes,and trauma healing in marriage dramas caused by trauma in female playwrights from the perspective of trauma narrative.Trauma narrative is not only the expression of the theme of drama,but also a way of expressing character discourse.It is also an artistic technique to explore the improvement of women’s gender status and spiritual self growth.By complementing each other in multiple aspects,it has become a key element in constructing the ideological connotation and artistic value of female marriage dramas.Based on this,studying female love and marriage dramas from the perspective of trauma narrative can be seen as a way to focus on female playwrights and traditional female dramas,exploring how female playwrights reflect their own psychological journey and survival difficulties in their creations from different periods and dimensions.This article is divided into three chapters.The first chapter mainly discusses how female marriage dramas of the 1930 s to 1940 s emerged.The female trauma caused by family,social environment,and gender relationships reflected in marriage dramas is the best annotation for understanding social reality.At the same time,female playwrights,influenced by patriarchal order and cruel wars,began to shift their female behavior towards seeking women’s liberation through traumatic experiences.The fate of women has always been closely related to the development of social history.Whether they are bystanders affected by trauma or war witnesses,as women in social groups,trauma has become an inescapable experience in their life.The second chapter mainly discusses the dramatic expression of female trauma in marriage dramas,analyzing the theme changes of different eras and the shaping of female trauma characters through different scripts,that is,the relationship between female playwrights and the narrative of trauma in dramas.By analyzing the dramatic works of different female playwrights,we aim to explore how different traumatic characters reflect the insinuations of female playwrights themselves and their reflections on complex human nature.Female playwrights have established a new and unique narrative perspective that belongs to women.The creative theme has shifted from the supremacy of romanticism in the1930 s to the opposition between love and war in the 1940 s,gradually moving from marginal roles in marriage and family to the path of independent femininity under the guidance of the liberation trend.The third chapter mainly studies female trauma and the self redemption of female playwrights,including the interpretation of the theme of female characters’ ’leaving home’.It discusses women’s different ways of leaving home from three sources of trauma: culture,original family,and psychology.Through the female trauma displayed in marriage dramas and the recovery of trauma,women can achieve reconciliation with themselves in the process of trauma experience,achieve the improvement of women’s gender status and spiritual self growth.To help guide women in real society to achieve self reshaping and self healing by blocking trauma. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Marriage drama, Trauma narration, 1930s to 1940s, Female playwright | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
