By means of his experience and sensibility to the Northwestern Sichuan local rustic life, the left wing writer Sha Ting creates a piece of local novels. In his novels, Sha Ting has legitimated the tradition concerned about the local society of the naturalistic novels since the May Fourth Era. According to his "narrow and ingoing" type of writing, Sha Ting has inscribed social conditions of the Northwestern Sichuan native soil society in special time background. By describing the strong man, Sha Ting excavates the vice characteristics of the Northwestern Sichuan local society and political ideology produce an effect on him. As a whole, these novels present an appearance of rational thought and aesthetic pursuit of Sha Ting in local society. In my thesis, the first chapter discusses the reason why Sha Ting established his standpoint of folk value position. The influence of Chinese modern literature context, the influence of regional culture in Northwestern Sichuan, and his particular life experience form Sha Ting's main factors of writing position about the local society. The second chapter anaylzes Sha Ting how to describe the rural ecology in Northwestern Sichuan. Portraying of the native persons, the familiar with folk language, and vivid description to folklore are his three creative features. The third chapter dissertates Sha Ting's humanistic care and rational thought to local society in Northwestern Sichuan. Sha Ting stands on the local society; he makes rational reflections on political culture in folk society and also full concerns about free forms in local society. From his concerns about local culture in his early periods to Sha Ting strengthens his concerns about political ideology, all of these factor show that Sha Ting has a mixed feeling about the Sichuan native soil society and the influence about the context of times.
