Taihe Ji is a collection of single-fold dramas created by Xu Chao,a playwright in the middle and late Ming Dynasty. It is composed of stories and works of 24 ancient people. The main system features of Taihe Ji are as follows: the repertoire takes the season and the month as the order, the song mainly takes the southern song, the singing mode mainly takes the public singing, and the foot color setting is flexible and diverse. It can be seen that it is obviously different from northern zaju in many aspects, which conforms to the trend of seeking novelty and change in Ming dynasty, and also shows the trend of northern zaju coming closer to southern zaju.Taihe Ji adapts the anecdotes and works of historical celebrities against the background of banquets, and constructs the plot mainly by modifying, merging and changing the main characters. These clipping and modification are helpful for the expression of the author’s personal feelings and thoughts. On the whole, the characters in the book can be divided into three categories: literati, courtiers and other characters. The author uses short and concise single zaju plays or portrays a multitude of Chinese courtiers with different images and styles, literati in the field, martial arts generals, ministers, monks,Taoists and geo-courtiers.Through the re-creation of numerous characters and stories,on the one hand,Xu Chao shows his own political aspirations and views, and shows an aggressive state of mind as an official. On the other hand,he tried his best to write the joy of hermits and the beauty of nature, showing the ideological tendency of staying away from the secular world and retiring as an official. The contradiction between being an official and being an official presented by many dramas in Taihe Drama was caused by the change of political environment and the shaking of traditional ideology in Ming Dynasty. In addition, many details of life in the book reflect the author’s gentle and approachable personal taste.
