Secondary vocational school students are a special group of middle school students.The training form of secondary vocational education determines that secondary vocational school students enter the society earlier than many peers.In the process of adapting to the career environment and changing their career roles,secondary vocational school students are prone to meet various career problems.Career adaptability is an important index to judge individual career development and a predictable career task in individual coping with career development,career roles and the ability to solve unpredictable career problems in career situations or career changes.During the period of secondary vocational school,it is of great significance to give targeted guidance and intervention to the career adaptability of secondary vocational students.At present,the research on the influencing factors of career adaptability of secondary vocational students mostly focuses on the influence of the antecedent variable of environment on career adaptability,but few studies pay attention to the internal factor of individuals-personal growth initiative.Personal growth initiative is a kind of consciousness and behavior tendency that individuals actively and consciously make purposeful changes,overcome difficulties,and actively develop and improve themselves.However,the personal growth initiative of secondary vocational students has not been heeded.In addition,self-identity and future orientation are not only important contents of teenagers’ development,but also significant influencing factors of career adaptability.The research on career adaptability from the perspective of personal growth initiative,self-identity and future orientation,is almost blank.Accordingly,this study focuses on the group of secondary vocational students,explores the relevant influencing factors of secondary vocational students’ career adaptability,compiles the personal growth initiative scale suitable for secondary vocational students,and investigates the current situation and relationship of secondary vocational students’ personal growth initiative,self-identity,future orientation and career adaptability.From the perspective of positive psychology,this paper provides reference for the intervention of career development of secondary vocational students.Study 1 is the development and revise of personal growth initiative scale for secondary vocational students.On the basis of previous studies,combined with the psychological characteristics of secondary vocational students,open-ended questionnaire and semi-structured interview,the personal growth initiative scale of secondary vocational students is compiled,using SPSS26.0 and AMOS24.0 to provide a reliable evaluation tool for measuring the personal growth initiative of secondary vocational students.In Study 2,879 secondary vocational school students in Shandong Province and Fujian Province were investigated by using the "Personal Growth Initiative Scale for Secondary Vocational Students","Self-Identity Scale","Adolescent Future Orientation Questionnaire" and "Career Adaptation Scale".Using SPSS26.0 to analyse the current situation of secondary vocational students’ personal growth initiative,self-identity,future orientation and career adaptability and the differences of various research variables in different demographic variables,and to explore the relationship between secondary vocational students’ personal growth initiative,self-identity,future orientation and career adaptability.The results show that:(1)The personal growth initiative scale for secondary vocational students includes five dimensions: preparation for change,planning,growth resilience,utilization of resources and initiative,with 24 items.It is good reliability and validity and can be used to measure the personal growth initiative of secondary vocational students.(2)The personal growth initiative,self-identity,future orientation and career adaptability of secondary vocational students are above the medium level,and the overall situation is good.(3)There are significant differences in the personal growth initiative of secondary vocational students in gender factors and one-child factors.The personal growth initiative of secondary vocational boys is higher than that of girls;The personal growth initiative of non only child secondary vocational students is higher than that of only child students.There are significant differences in secondary vocational students’ self-identity in gender factors,grade factors and one-child factors.The self-identity of secondary vocational boys is higher than that of secondary vocational girls,the self-identity of vocational three students is the highest,followed by vocational two students,the self-identity of vocational one students is relatively lowest,and the self-identity of non only child secondary vocational students is higher than that of one-child.There are significant differences in the future orientation of secondary vocational students in gender factors and grade factors.The future orientation of secondary vocational boys is higher than that of secondary vocational girls,and the future orientation of vocational third students is higher than that of vocational first students.There are significant differences in gender and grade factors in career adaptability of secondary vocational students.The career adaptability of secondary vocational boys is higher than that of girls,and the career adaptability of vocational third students is higher than that of vocational first students.(4)There is a significant positive correlation between secondary vocational students’ personal growth initiative,self-identity,future orientation and career adaptability.Secondary vocational students’ personal growth initiative,self-identity and future orientation can significantly and positively predict career adaptability,secondary vocational students’ personal growth initiative and self-identity can significantly and positively predict future orientation,and secondary vocational students’ personal growth initiative can positively and significantly predict self-identity.(5)Self-identity plays an intermediary role between secondary vocational students’ personal growth initiative and career adaptability;Future orientation plays a mediating role between personal growth initiative and career adaptability of secondary vocational students;Self identity and future orientation play a chain intermediary role between secondary vocational students’ personal growth initiative and career adaptability.To sum up,this study concludes that the revised secondary vocational students’ personal growth initiative scale has good reliability and validity,and can be used as a tool to measure secondary vocational students’ personal growth initiative.Personal growth initiative of secondary vocational students can positively predict career adaptability.Self identity and future orientation are mediating variables between personal growth initiative and career adaptability of secondary vocational students.Self identity and future orientation play a chain intermediary role between secondary vocational students’ personal growth initiative and career adaptability. |
