Wang Ye worship is the folk belief system in Southern Fujian,this article discusses Wang Ye is the god in the belief of Southern Fujian Wang ye,currently there are 360 legends of Wang Ye enshrined in Southern Fujian,and Quanzhou Fumei Palace as "Wang Ye Palace","Wang Ye General Hall",its enshrinement of Wang Ye is representative in the entire Wang Ye belief system.This paper takes Xue Rengui enshrined in Quanzhou Fumei Palace as the research object,to explore the phenomenon of Xue Rengui being enshrined as Wang Ye in Southern Fujian,Delve into the question behind the phenomenon: The essence of Wang Ye in Wang Ye worship in Southern Fujian,the relationship between Xue Rengui and the local culture in Southern Fujian,and the relationship between Wang Ye and the local culture in Southern Fujian.This article explains the problem in three chapters:Chapter 1: The way of becoming a god in Wang Ye worship in the Southern Fujian includes two sections.Section 1: The origin of Wang Ye worship in the Southern Fujian.Section 2: The basic characteristics of man becoming a god in the belief of Wang Ye in the Southern Fujian.Through consulting the local records of Southern Fujian,we found that the belief of the king had existed in Southern Fujian at least in the Qing Dynasty.Combining the two different theories about the belief of Wang Ye in the Southern Fujian,this paper explores deeply the way of Wang Ye in the Southern Fujian to become gods,so as to understand the way of Xue Rengui to become gods.There is no final conclusion on the origin and development of the belief of Wang Ye in the Southern Fujian.The core ceremony of Wang Ye worship in the Southern Fujian,the sending of the royal boat,has verified the close connection between Wang Ye of the Southern Fujian and the custom of sending plague,and thus the image of Wang Ye has a deep connection with the god of plague.The representation of Wang Ye becoming a god presented in the legend of Wang Ye has become an important criterion for the choice of Wang Ye.Chapter 2: From Xue Rengui in history to Xue Rengui in the story.From the perspective of the belief of Wang Ye in the Southern Fujian,the image of Xue Rengui in the historical biography has its special features with the image of Xue Rengui in the story.The relationship between the image of Xue Rengui and Wang Ye in the Southern Fujian is understood according to various details in relevant historical documents and literary stories.From the perspective of the belief of Wang Ye in the Southern Fujian,the evolution of the historical image of Xue Rengui and the literary image of Xue Rengui is more heroic,even demonizing and inheriting the family cultural concept of personality,which has established a connection between Xue Rengui and the Wang Ye in the Southern Fujian.Chapter 3:Xue Rengui under the local culture of Southern Fujian includes two sections:Hedong Xue’s entry into Southern Fujian and Xue Rengui in the local folk art of Southern Fujian..Hedong Xue’s entry into Southern Fujian established the folk reputation for the god of Xue’s surname,while the image of Xue Rengui in the local folk folk art of Southern Fujian shaped the special imagination of Xue Rengui in Southern Fujian.Through the image of Xue Rengui in the local folk art of Southern Fujian,the cultural deposits and public psychology of Southern Fujian could be understood.The choice of Xue Rengui’s surname by the local culture in Southern Fujian is the admiration of the local family culture in Southern Fujian,and Xue Rengui’s name appears among the princes in Southern Fujian thanks to the space where local folk art related to Xue Rengui takes place: on the street,or depending on folk activities,or accurately has a direct connection with the actual living female groups who perform daily sacrifices to princes,So far,Xue Rengui’s name was confirmed among Wang Ye. |
